Delilah woke with a start, her body heaving and covered in sweat. The ceiling fan above her shifted the focus of the red lights illuminating her room. To the side, her alarm clock flicked off and on at a rapid pace, blinking between 12:00 and being dark. Delilah looked at her left arm, a small bruise forming on her wrist.

SECOND CHANCES
CHAPTER ONE Emery's P.O.V Nobody said that being a vampire wasn’t easy. I thought to myself as I sat on a rock overlooking the lake. My now changed hair which was a flame colored red blew gently in the wind. It was dark and the sun was just setting in the horizon and the stars began peeking behind dark grey clouds. At this hour vampires began to stir. Getting ready for the night ahead of them. I miss being human. I thought as I heard three familiar voices from behind me. I turned and saw Nora, Blake, and Marcus approaching me but I ignored them and continued to stare off into the distance. Nora and Blake were the ones that I found me on the highway that night. Injured and on the verge of death. If it wasn't for Marcus...My thoughts trailed off as I snapped back to reality as I sighed. I was grateful to all three of them..but being like this....a vampire that has to have some control...wasn't and was my choice....

A Filmmaker's Review: "Rosemary's Baby" (1968)
As one of the most iconic horror/thriller films of all time, there are obviously high expectations when watching the film. No matter how many times you watch it, you always expect to be thrilled in some way. Whether this is by those dodgy montages littered throughout the film or by the shocking ending that finalises the strangeness that had been prominent throughout the movie. Whatever you are doing at the time and however many times you've seen the film - you still expect that same thrill and yes, you definitely get it.

Three Visits at Midnight
I awoke that night to the sound of furious hammering. My brain, dragging itself from sleep. struggled to place the noise. It was a drum. It was a rifle discharging. It was the walls of the house falling down around me. I opened my eyes.

The Belsnickel. Top Story - December 2019.
1. Mary Alice Sherwood disappeared on Halloween night. Every bit of her, right down to her crooked bunny ears and the powder puff tail pinned to her white coat, was swallowed by the chilly, bonfire-smoky dark of the Woodside suburb in which she lived. She was eight years old, trick-or-treating with her peers in her safe neighborhood under the admittedly relaxed supervision of a young sitter, and she was never seen again. The respectable, upwardly mobile households of Woodside shrank in upon themselves in shock and disbelief for a time, neighborhood watches became vigilant once again, and children were confined to their yards where parental eyes could fall upon them at any moment. Now, as Christmas approached, holiday furor and excitement displaced the sharpest spur of fear, and the Sherwoods’ tragedy had faded a bit from the forefront of neighborhood conversations. After all, no one really knew them very well. They kept to themselves, in the cul-de-sac of Hemlock Circle, where their only neighbor was an empty house for sale. The search continued for little Mary Alice, the police patrol car still made its rounds several times a day, and the residents of Woodside would have gathered in sympathy around the Sherwoods had they been welcome. They were not.

Reed Alexander's Horror Review of 'The Configuration Discordant' by John Baltisberger (2020)
I don’t normally do poetry. Like your typical ‘cain wagger,’ I don’t get it, and I’m not sure I even want it. If you’re going to ryme or rap, fucking throw a beat behind it.

Haunted West Virginia
Ghost stories are just ghost stories. They can scare you and set your imagination dancing. However, ghost stories that are real are the most frightening of all because you know the places that the ghosts haunt and they just might be close-by.
