Importance of Jambukeswarar Temple, Thiruvanaikaval
Caption: In the ancient city of Tiruchirappalli there once lived a showing love for deity, Dharma Varma and his wife Sundari. Despite their merger resources, they dedicated their lives to the worship of Lord Shiva. One hot summer day, when Sundari went into the forest to fetch water from a nearby river, she came across a beautiful Jambu tree whose branches were full of ripe fruits. Overwhelmed with gratitude, Sundari offered prayers to Lord Shiva and vowed to build a temple under the sacred tree of in his honor. Lord Shiva was impressed by her devotion and appeared before her as Jambukeswarar, the presiding deity of the Jambu tree. This is how the Sri Jambukeswarar Temple (Thiruvanaikaval) came into being, a testimony to the unshakable faith of Dharma Varma and Sundari.
