In the Muchintal neighborhood of Ranga Reddy district on the outskirts of Hyderabad, on the grounds of the Chinna Jeeyar Trust, is a statue of the eleventh-century Indian philosopher Ramanuja, known as the Statue of Equality.[2] It is the world's second-tallest seated statue. The organization came up with the idea to erect the statue to honor Ramanuja's birth anniversary, which is believed to have cost ₹1,000 crore (US$130 million). A large portion of the project's funding came from donations made by followers.
Everything you need to know about the "Statue of Equality" is provided below:
• The 216-foot monument is located on the expansive 40-acre grounds of the Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamy Ashram.
As stated by Suryanarayana Yellapragada, an official with the Jeeyar Education Trust, the "Statue of Equality" is the second tallest when seated.
• It was constructed as a memorial to mark his birth's millennium. The project will probably cost ₹1,000 crore in total.
• The statue is made of five metals - gold, silver, copper, brass and tin. The structure was erected in 2017, but it took four years for the completion of works on the other constructions.
• The statue has been positioned on a huge lotus built over a three-storied 54-ft structure called Bhadravedi. The ground floor comprising 63,444 square feet area has a pictorial presentation providing glimpses of Ramanujacharya’s life and his philosophy.
• On the second floor, there is a temple of Ramanujacharya in nearly 300,000 sq ft area, where a 120 kg gold statue of him will be installed for daily worship.
• On the top floor of 14,700 sq ft, there is a Vedic digital library and research centre.
• On a 34-acre plot of ground outside the Bhadravedi, there will be 108 stone-built Divya Desa Kshetras (Vaishnavite temples spread around the nation) surrounding the statue.
• To give the statue a more global appeal, ashram staff members have announced that they will erect flags from every nation next to it. They claim that it is being carried out in line with the equality philosophy advocated by Sri Ramanujacharya in all spheres of life, including caste, creed, and religion.
