DistroKid is a digital music distribution firm that operates independently and is based in the United States. It was developed in 2012 by Philip J. Kaplan, an entrepreneur from the United States. The service was formerly called Fandalism.

He said that the only reason he got a less amount of royalties was due of the US tax withholding, which is where DistroKid's offices are situated. Vasc has posted two videos on YouTube that provide an update and show the issue.
DistroKid introduced DistroVid in the summer of 2022. This platform allows both members and non-members to produce music videos with a subscription.
On June 7, 2023, DistroKid was sued for allegedly failing to carry out a copyright takedown correctly.
After Raquella George and Damien Wilson had a quarrel, the "Scary Movie" EP was released. The EP was first agreed upon in 2020, however the music was taken off without warning after the disagreement.
As a result, the distributor notified Wilson that the EP had been taken down from all streaming services beginning in January 2021.
In September 2023, DistroKid announced that it has acquired Bandzoogle, a platform that provides music distribution and website hosting services.
