Your Guide to January 2025: Movies, TV, and Music to Watch Out For

January 2025 is upon us, and the entertainment industry here in Nigeria is rushing into it with full force and no time to waste. Already, movies, TV shows, and albums have been announced, and we're sure as the month goes along, more will be announced even then. But for now, looking ahead: here are 5 movies, TV, and music to watch out for in January of 2025.

1. Katangari Goes to Town (MOVIE)

Kicking off the year is a murder mystery titled Katangari Goes To Town which will be landing on Prime Video on the 4th of January and starring a lot of big names from Segun Arinze to Ireti Doyle, Munachi Abii, Senator, and more.

The movie tells the story of Katangari, a retired police inspector turned vigilante (played by Segun Arinze) whose investigation into his cousin's death leads him deep into a web of family secrets, betrayal, and intrigue.

2. Lisabi: A Legend is Born (MOVIE)

Next up on the calendar is the sequel to the well received Netflix movie, Lisabi: The Uprising. That movie which ended on a cliff-hanger will see its story conclude with the next installment Lisabi: A Legend is Born which is scheduled to hit Netflix on the 10th of January.

The film continues the story of Lisabi Agbongbo-Akala, a farmer-driven to vengeance after witnessing the brutal killing of his close friend by the Alaafin of Oyo and his ally, Songodeyi, a story loosely based on the historic 18th-century Lisabi Rebellion of Abeokuta.

3. Real Housewives of Lagos Season 3 (TV)

My favorite Nigerian reality TV show is back on Showmax on the 12th of January for it's third season.

Carolyna Hutchings is back to the show after exiting for the second season, and with her return also comes the departure of previous housemates Chioma Ikokwu, Iyabo Ojo, Toyin Lawani, Faith Morey, and Tania Omotayo.

However, fans shouldn't be worried as new faces will be joining the cast including Dabota Lawson, Adeola Diadem Adeyemi, and Sophia Momodu.

4. Young, Famous, and African Season 3 (TV)

Next up on the calendar is yet another reality TV show also back for its third season, Young, Famous, and African.

The show which stars Annie Idibia, Swanky Jerry, and a host of other African celebrities will be making its return to Netflix on the 17th of January.

5. Qing Madi – “I Am The Blueprint” (MUSIC)

Finally, on the last day of the new month, fans of Afrobeats music can expect the debut album of rising star Qing Madi who has amassed a number of hits under her belt including "American Love", "Ole", and more.

Her debut album I Am The Blueprint is expected to land on the 31st of January. Will you be listening?
