Upcoming Movie That Could’ve Made Henry Cavill the New John Wick Is Doomed
Henry Cavill and Guy Ritchie’s 'In the Grey' goes ghost mode, with producers dodging answers, leaving us side-eyeing Hollywood’s vanishing act.

Henry Cavill and Guy Ritchie‘s action thriller, In the Grey, was supposed to be released earlier this year, but for some reason, the movie was pulled from the calendar with little to no explanation. Now, the producers have given a rather discouraging update on the project.
Talking to Deadline, Black Bear Pictures’ Benjamin Kramer and Teddy Schwarzman were asked if In the Grey and Ritchie’s other movie, Wife and Dog, are Black Bear productions or not. Schwarzman simply replied, “No comment“.
Fans have been anticipating In the Grey‘s release ever since it was first announced. After seeing Cavill in projects like Mission: Impossible, the idea of him turning into a full-blown action hero was appealing, to say the least.
When we talk about action heroes, Keanu Reeves‘ John Wick comes to mind, and why wouldn’t it? The character has been the perfect face for the genre for the last few years. However, with In the Grey, we had hoped to see Cavill take the much-deserved mantle with a proper action franchise.
Now, with Kramer and Schwarzman unwilling to speak about the movie, it has left us wondering if the movie is doomed.
What Is Guy Ritchie’s ‘In the Grey‘ About?
Not much is known about the high-octane action thriller, but we do know that the story revolves around two extraction specialists who must help a female hostage negotiator escape. The extraction specialists will be played by Cavill and Jake Gyllenhaal, while Eiza González will play the female character.

At the 2024 CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Ritchie and Cavill described the two men as working between criminality and the law. As per reports (via CBR), the audience was shown footage of Gyllenhaal and González’s characters staking out a cafe while Cavill fed them instructions through an earpiece.
The trio was apparently planning to retrieve the money stolen by someone named Salazar. Naturally, things didn’t go smoothly, and the characters are forced to escape through a storm of bullets as a shootout erupts. Oh, and Gyllenhaal blows out a helicopter with a rocket launcher.
If this doesn’t scream high-octane action thriller, we don’t know what will. Unfortunately, there is nothing we can say about its future at the moment.
Upcoming Henry Cavill Movies to Watch Out for

While the fate of In the Grey hangs by a thread, his fans need not worry as Cavill’s roster is full to the brim with one exciting project after the other. Whether it’s bringing the Warhammer 40,000 world to life or reprising his role as Sherlock Holmes in Enola Holmes 3, Cavill is set to take the industry by storm soon.
Here are Cavill’s upcoming movies that you need to watch out for:
Voltron – Based on the 1980s animated television series, Voltron: Defender of the Universe, the project is a live-action adaptation directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber. It stars Cavill, Sterling K. Brown, Rita Ora, Daniel Quinn-Toye, and more.
The movie will follow the story of five piloted Robot Lions that come together to form the ultimate humanoid robot – Voltron – to fight against evil. As per the director (via Deadline), the adaptation will “stay true to the heart and the spirit of Voltron,” all while “introducing an entirely new generation of pilots.“

Since Amazon MGM Studios is distributing, it’s safe to assume that the movie is made for streaming and not for theatres.
Enola Holmes 3 – Cavill will soon be seen reprising one of the most iconic characters in history, Sherlock Holmes, in Philip Barantini’s upcoming mystery. He will be joined by Millie Bobby Brown, Louis Partridge, Helena Bonham Carter, and more. As of now, the plot remains under wraps.
Highlander – Now this is something fans are waiting for with bated breath. Cavill will play the leading role of Connor MacLeod, a Medieval Highlander who realizes that he is an immortal warrior.
The reboot will be directed by Chad Stahelski and is already shaping up to be one of Cavill’s most exciting projects, if not the most. Moreover, the movie has a star-studded cast that includes Dave Bautista, Russell Crowe, Karen Gillan, and more.
Warhammer 40,000 – Cavill has been attached to the franchise since 2022, but it hasn’t made much progress just yet. It’s based on a popular tabletop role-playing game in which players engage in battles in a wasteland. Filled with figurines and detailed lore, Warhammer 40K will surely take Cavill’s already incredible career to new heights.
