Unlocking Movie Memories

For Gen Zer's and Millennials who Forget

Disney Channel Logo Circa 1990s

If you are an older Generation Z member like myself, or a millennial who was hip and watching what all the kids were watching in the early 2000's and late 90's, you might have realized today's pop culture is nothing like the recent past.

Young people have traded ripped skinny jeans for oversized utility pants, they've traded slip-on sneakers for bulky white athleisure shoes, and they have definitely traded the side part for the middle part. No longer are the days of wholesome, gripping, and lovable Disney channel content, at least in our eyes. Maybe the content of today is just misunderstood by older viewers.

When scrolling past an unfathomable amount of viewing options, it is easy to forget about the classic movies and series that shaped our now extinct pop culture. Disney + makes it easy to find blasts from the past, but other movies and shows are harder to remember, and then even harder to find. So, here is a list of my favorite unlocked TV favorites from the past:

1. If you loved Hannah Montana...

You might want to rewatch Radio Rebel, because Debby Ryan's facial expressions go unmatched. Also try:

Read it and Weep (2006) Disney Plus

Read it and Weep (2006)

Because of Winn-Dixie (2005) Disney Plus

iCarly (2007) Netflix

Starstruck (2010) Disney Plus

The soundtrack to this movie...chef's kiss!

Another Cinderella Story (2008) Amazon Prime Vide0

16 Wishes (2010) iTunes

We stan Debby Ryan.

Ramona and Beezus (2010) Disney Plus

Sisterhood in a movie.

2. If you loved Phineas and Ferb...

"Where's Perry?"

Maybe your next binge is Rugrats, Hey Arnold!, or Avatar the Last Airbender. "Obtuse, rubber goose, green moose, guava juice, giant snake, birthday cake, large fries, chocolate shake..." You can't go wrong with these animated classics:

Catdog (1998) Amazon Prime Video

Who comes up with this stuff?

Jimmy Neutron (2002) Amazon Prime Video

Kim Possible (2002) Disney Plus

Of course we remember Kim...but Ron?! C'mon.

Danny Phantom (2004) Amazon Prime Video

yessss...O.G. E-girl!

Teen Titans (2003) HBO Max

Fish Hooks (2010) Disney Plus

Kinda lame or kinda entertaining? I could never decide.

The Fairly OddParents (2001) Amazon Prime

Courage the Cowardly Dog (1996) HBO Max

OK, but this show seriously creeped me out, what about you?

3. If you loved Adventure Time...

"come on grab your friends..."

Then you also probably loved Regular Show. It is just facts. How about these other animated lost memories?

Then how about these other titles? Do they make you want to get up and follow your dreams? How about a passion project pursuit?

Let it Shine (2012) Disney Plus

This movie was ahead of it's time.

7. If you loved The Suite Life of Zack and Cody...

Then chances are you are going to miss these when you read them. Beware: memories of this list of classics are better than they seem when you rewatch them! But Bridget Mendler AND Hayley Kiyoko in one rockin' movie? That one hits just as good today as it did then.

Lemonade Mouth (2011) Disney Plus

Lemonade Mouth never fails us.
