Nancy Guthrie: Is a miracle still possible after close to two weeks?

Each day that passes makes her safe return less likely.

Close to two weeks since Nancy Guthrie's abduction

As of February 12, 2026, Nancy Guthrie remains classified as missing for 12 days, but there is no official confirmation that she is deceased. Blood matching Guthrie’s DNA was found on her front porch, indicating she likely suffered an injury during the abduction.

Law enforcement has stated they have no "proof of life," but they continue to treat the investigation as a search and rescue mission and not a recovery. There are medical concerns that place her in the high-risk category and authorities admit they are fearful.

The FBI has classified the 84-year-old as a "vulnerable adult." The Pima County Sheriff’s Department reported that she requires daily medication for high blood pressure and a heart condition.

Sheriff Chris Nanos has stated repeatedly that "time is of the essence," and emphasized that there is a significant concern that Mrs. Guthrie could die without her required medication.

Authorities previously stated that going without these prescription drugs for over 24 hours could be life-threatening. Mrs. Guthrie has now been without her meds for 12 days.

Addressing the unthinkable

No one wants to think about the worst-case scenario, but the worst may have already happened.

Cardiologists have noted that while some heart medications (like certain blood thinners) can be missed for a short period without immediate symptoms, stopping others abruptly can lead to dizziness, shortness of breath, fainting, or life-threatening cardiac events.

Nancy Guthrie’s pacemaker stopped transmitting data to her phone app at on February 1, at 2:28 a.m., shortly after her doorbell camera was tampered with and disconnected.

The investigation into her February 1 disappearance from her home in Tucson, Arizona, is being treated as a criminal abduction. Her family and law enforcement have expressed both concern and hope regarding her status.

The pacemaker stopping its data sync does not necessarily indicate that the device (or her heart) has stopped. All that it reveals is a loss of the monitoring link.

The combination of Guthrie's age, signs of a physical struggle, the lack of vital heart medication for 12 days, and her pacemaker monitoring discontinuing suggests her health and life are in a state of extreme peril. In addition, the senior citizen must have been absolutely frightened after being abducted.

Holding out for a miracle

On Wednesday, February 11, the FBI conducted an "extensive search" along roadways in the Catalina Foothills near Mrs. Guthrie's home. They discovered a pair of gloves, but it has not been confirmed whether they are related to the case.

A video of a masked man tampering with Guthrie's doorbell was recently released, but the man has not been identified. Several ransom notes have been sent to media outlets with different deadlines.

The Guthrie family has made public appeals, stating they are willing to pay the ransom but have requested "proof of life," which has not yet been publicly provided. This in itself is a huge red flag. If Nancy Guthie is not deceased and the kidnapper wants the ransom money, why has he not given the family what they desire?

What do the authorities know that they are withholding from the public? After it was confirmed that the Titan Submersible had imploded, it was revealed that authorities were aware that this had happened from the beginning. They did not make a public statement until days later.

Why was this senior abducted, and what does the kidnapper really want?Has he been toying with authorities and the family from the beginning, or is her safe return still a possibility

This situation must be absolutely devastating for the Guthie family. Each day that passes without their loved one being returned lessens the chance that she will. Still, it's best to hold out for a miracle. Savannah Guthie says they will never give up on finding her mom. May the family soon find the closure they deserve.
