Top New Anime - Invincible Season 3
Then, TV dealt with The Real Deal, while Allorca dealt with real students in that order. Invincible originally came out in 2021 on Amazon Prime Video, and the show quickly resonated with superhero audiences around the world by taking common comic book hero tropes and running them through the roughest, grittiest, most visceral action and the most emotional narrative it could. The show, which is based upon the comic book series by Robert Kirkman, became such a big hit because it is so graphic, layered, and the stakes are such an emotional rollercoaster on a world scale. And now, with Invincible Season 3 being highly awaited, it goes without saying that the further developments in Mark Grayson's life are going to be a lot edgier, deeper into character development, and full of shocking twists that audiences will just love sitting on the edge of their seats for.
Quick Recap of Invincible's Journey So Far
For those who may benefit from a reminder, Invincible depicts Mark Grayson, an ordinary high school student, who finds out that he possessed his father Omni-Man's superpowers. At first presented as a good father and a world-saving superhero, Omni-Man slowly becomes unmasked as an extraterrestrial despot, shocking Mark and challenging him to confront his own ethics, family history, and what it means to be the world's next superhero. Seasons 1 and 2 did some cool things with this, as Mark struggled to reconcile his powers, his father's betrayal, and his place in a world full of danger.
Season 2 left audiences hanging, with issues not resolved and cliffhangers like the fate of Earth after Omni-Man's departure, Mark as Invincible, and extraterrestrial armies and other superpowered individuals or groups in threat. Season 3 will probably build upon these developments, ramping up the stakes and pitting our beloved hero against new challenges.
The Return of Familiar Faces
One of the biggest strengths of Invincible is easily its ensemble cast, and Season 3 will no doubt bring back many of the characters that have become so well-known and loved by fans. Mark Grayson, voiced by Steven Yeun, will continue his journey as Invincible while he deals with the aftermath of his father's betrayal and struggles to balance his duties as a hero and a son. Look for the emotional toll that will come with Mark finally understanding what kind of person his father is, as that will be ongoing with the development process, to be expected.
Omni-Man is also due to return, though the exact nature of his role in Season 3 has yet to be revealed. The violent exfiltration from Earth leaves a lot of questions around what comes next. Will he come back to Earth to finish what he started, or will his narrative turn inward, focusing on his own complicated self? Season 3 may give more insight into Omni-Man's motivations and his alien origins, which would make his eventual return pivotal in the narrative.
We can also expect to see some usual heroes, such as Atom Eve played by Gillian Jacobs and Rex Splode played by Jason Mantzoukas, stick around since they will be central to the Guardian team. The dynamics of their affectations, both in group settings and between Mark, will more than likely change alongside increasingly threatening circumstances together. Not to mention, of course, that comic book Invincible sports an outrageously huge cast of secondary characters: richly intertwined is the world of Invincible, and it's not as though new supervillains and anti-heroes aren't right around the corner along with the cosmic threat tier-this is only Season 3, after all.
While Season 2 introduced fans to the terrifying Viltrumites and their plans to conquer the universe, Season 3 will likely push the boundaries even further by exploring new intergalactic threats and delving deeper into the alien worldbuilding that Invincible has teased. The universe that Kirkman has established is enormous, and there is much more to discover beyond the reach of Earth.
