Tom Felton Returns to the Wizarding World — As Draco Malfoy on Broadway
Tom Felton is returning as Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway for a limited 19-week run starting this November.

More than a decade after bidding farewell to his Slytherin school robes, Tom Felton is set to reprise the role that made him a household name. The British actor will return as Draco Malfoy in the Broadway production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child this autumn. Performances begin 11 November 2025 at New York’s Lyric Theatre for a strictly limited 19-week run, and fans are already buzzing with anticipation.
This marks the first time an original Harry Potter film cast member will take the stage in the official continuation of the Wizarding World story, and the move is already being hailed as a magical reunion fans never expected — but are thrilled to witness.

From Schoolboy Rival to Complex Adult
Felton played Draco Malfoy across all eight Harry Potter films from 2001 to 2011, growing from a snide schoolyard rival to a far more nuanced, conflicted character by the series' conclusion. While Draco began as the ultimate privileged antagonist — Harry’s smug, pure-blood foil — his later appearances revealed deeper emotional layers: guilt, fear, and the crushing pressure of family legacy.
In Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, the stage sequel set 19 years after the Battle of Hogwarts, Draco is no longer a boy vying for his father’s approval, but a man dealing with grief, fatherhood, and the ghosts of the past. His son, Scorpius, and Harry’s son, Albus, take centre stage in the story, but Draco’s emotional journey adds weight and history to the narrative. Felton’s return in this role offers a rare opportunity: to see an actor revisit a character across time, now shaped by age, maturity, and reflection — both in story and in real life.

Felton’s Return to Theatre
Though best known for his work in film, Felton is no stranger to the stage. In recent years, he earned praise for his West End performance in 2:22 – A Ghost Story, showcasing his ability to bring emotional resonance and sharp timing to live performance. Returning to the world of Harry Potter on stage feels like a natural evolution in his career — and a bold, exciting step for the Broadway production.
While The Cursed Child has been running in New York since 2018, the addition of Felton to the cast is likely to draw fresh attention and new audiences. For fans who grew up with the films, this is more than a theatrical event — it’s a chance to reconnect with a familiar face in an entirely new context.

A Limited Opportunity
Felton’s engagement will last just 19 weeks, making this a rare and likely unrepeatable moment in the ever-expanding Wizarding World franchise. Those hoping to catch the show are encouraged to sign up now at HarryPotterBroadway.com for first access to tickets. Demand is expected to be sky-high, and early registration will be key.
This limited engagement may also open the door to other returning cast members joining the production in the future — though nothing has been confirmed. For now, Felton is blazing the trail, and his involvement marks a meaningful crossover between the cinematic and theatrical worlds of Harry Potter.

A Legacy Continues
In his 2022 memoir Beyond the Wand, Felton reflected on the personal impact of growing up in the Wizarding World. Now, stepping back into Draco’s shoes with the wisdom of adulthood, he brings something entirely new to the character — and to the audience.
Whether you're a die-hard Potterhead or a theatre lover looking for something special, this moment is one to watch. With magic, nostalgia, and fresh storytelling all rolled into one, The Cursed Child with Tom Felton promises to be a spellbinding experience on Broadway.

nice
Now cool! I’ve never had a chance to see this show (the play) but have wanted to. I’m in Australia though. I assume you have seen it… I liked reading the play when it was released (I barely remember it).
