This is Food? (Guardians of Ga'Hoole one shot)

Ever think about the confusion the band had when they first got to The Great Tree and were presented with the new and "weird" food that Cook makes?

A plate of a tart cut into pieces, some pieces have already been taken, allowing cut pieces to be spread out on the plate. "This is Food?" is above the tart in the same color as the tart. This is all on a gray background.

“What in Glaux name is this?” Twilight grumbled at the nest-made snake carrying cups of milk berry tea and tarts on his back, he was still fuming at not being able to go into battle.

“Milkberry tarts and nut cups of milkberry tea,” the snake's voice quivered ever so slightly at the great grey’s outward-aggressive appearance. He was also slightly confused with the owls not knowing what a milkberry tart was. “It’s food,” he elaborated.

“How would you eat it I don’t see where its head is... or was,” Digger queried.

“It has no head, it was never alive,” the snake replied awkwardly, clearly not used to dealing with new owls.

“What do you mean it was never alive, I’ve never eaten anything that wasn’t alive and I grew up in all sorts of places with all sorts of animals in the orphan school of tough learning,” he swelled up, not helping the nervousness of the poor nest maid. “Prey eat plants. Owls eat meat,” he huffed.

“Twilight, that’s enough,” Mrs. Plithiver hissed. The other blind snake was shocked, not expecting to find one of his own kind in the hollow.

“What did I say, it's true it’s not like we're….” Twilight trailed off trying to find the right word.

“Omnivores,” Gylfie offered.

“Small owl, big words,” he muttered, not knowing if that was the right word.

“I don’t think that they would give us any food we can’t eat, that doesn’t match anything we know about the tree…” Digger pointed out and Twilight didn’t have anything to say to that.

“Digger’s right Twilight,” the elf owl backed him up before taking a beakful of the tart. “And this tastes amazing!” she added. The other two started eating as well. The snake had explained that they pick up the tart in their talons, and not to peck on the plates that lay on his back. She liked it better this way, the other way reminded her of picking through pellets at St. Aggies. The thought of that evil place caused Gylfie to notice that Soren was missing, and asked if anyone knew his whereabouts.

“I’ll go find him, you three just stay here and eat your tarts,” with that Mrs. Plithiver slivered out of the hollow’s trunk port. She didn’t have to go far to find him caring for a younger owlet that was in distress. Tarts and tea were set beside him and the owl he was attending. Oh, what a caring owl, Soren is, he'll make a great father someday, she thought as she lay at the edge of the entrance, not wanting to disturb him, after a few minutes she slivered back to his friends, hoping that he could figure out how to eat this new food.

The others were being instructed on how to drink the tea by the now calmer snake, and how the plates were not food.
