Some K-dramas are more than stories – they're life-changing, memory-stuck events. There are those moments where a program makes you in some way that keeps haunting you after the end credits. Those shows are not just memorable based on the plots or characters but based on the etched, one-of-a-kind performances which give them mythical status.

The actors of these dramas left behind something so unique, so real, that even years later, they still linger in our minds. Let's dive into the K-dramas that will haunt us forever, thanks to those phenomenal performances.

1. Goblin (2016) – Gong Yoo and Kim Go-eun

The drama that captured the hearts of millions and left us emotionally shattered. Gong Yoo's portrayal of brooding goblin Kim Shin, who is cursed with eternal life, and Kim Go-eun's weak but fiery Eun-tak created an iconic pair. The chemistry between these two actors is pure magic, and their performances are just spellbinding. The passion they brought to their characters, especially in the saddest parts, made us experience their pain as our own. Goblin is a masterclass in acting.

2. It's Okay to Not Be Okay (2020) – Kim Soo-hyun and Seo Ye-ji

Kim Soo-hyun and Seo Ye-ji both delivered outstanding performances in this emotionally rich drama. Kim Soo-hyun's portrayal of Moon Gang-tae, who is emotionally detached because of what transpired in the past, had us yearning for more. But Seo Ye-ji as the imperfect writer Ko Mun-yeong stole the show. She brought to life a character who was half-frightening and half-vulnerable, making us feel her pain. Along with their acting in this series, they made it a gorgeous depiction of healing and mental health.

3. My Mister (2018) – Lee Sun-kyun and IU

My Mister is not only a drama; it's an emotional ride. Lee Sun-kyun, being a man worn down by the troubles of life, and IU, being a defeated young woman, gave depth to their characters like never before. Both their naked vulnerability made this show unforgettable. Their performances did not need grand movements; their silence was deafening, and romance was felt between them without it. It's the kind of acting that digs deep into your soul and won't let go.

4. Vincenzo (2021) – Song Joong-ki

After you've ever seen Song Joong-ki in Vincenzo, you'll know what it's like to witness an act that combines charm, brains, and unrestrained emotions all in one package. His portrayal of Vincenzo Cassano, the sophisticated and bloodthirsty lawyer with a secret heart of gold, was a show-stopper. From the slapstick chaos to the blood-soaked images of vengeance, Song Joong-ki masterfully owned the role. He had us laughing, crying, and rooting on a morally ambiguous — and we wouldn't have had it otherwise — character.

5. Signal (2016) – Lee Je-hoon, Kim Hye-soo, Cho Jin-woong

The Lee Je-hoon, Kim Hye-soo, and Cho Jin-woong trio delivered a memorable performance in Signal, a time travel thriller of cold cases. Each of them brought their own nuance to the role of detectives who can communicate with the past. Their over-the-top performances as gritty, humanly flawed protagonists fighting the weight of cold cases and the opprobrium of their own actions kept us glued to our screens. Signal proves that sometimes an immaculately performed show is all it takes to make a series one for the books.

6. Crash Landing on You (2019) – Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin

What do you get when two of Korea's most beloved actors share the screen? Chemistry. Plain and simple chemistry. Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin's performance in Crash Landing on You was a whole other level. Their portrayal of a North Korean soldier and a South Korean heiress, separated by a border and fate, had us crying, laughing, and falling in love with them over and over again. Their range as actors — from subtle moments to tear-jerking ones — was what made Crash Landing on You unforgettable. Both of them brought the show its depth and authenticity that will stay with you.

7. Secret Garden (2010) – Hyun Bin and Ha Ji-won

Another masterpiece of Hyun Bin, this one with the ever-talented Ha Ji-won. Secret Garden gave us one of the best K-drama love stories ever, and their acting is what made the show a legend. From the funny scenes to the dramatic, action-filled ones, their chemistry was undeniable. Hyun Bin's portrayal as the strict CEO, and Ha Ji-won's as the stuntwoman with a golden heart, is one of the best K-drama couples of all time.

8. Reply 1988 (2015) – Lee Hye-ri, Park Bo-gum, and Go Kyung-pyo

Reply 1988 had gathered an all-star cast who delivered some of the most sincere acting in K-drama history. Lee Hye-ri as bubbly and hopeful Deok-sun, Park Bo-gum as cool and generous Choi Taek, and Go Kyung-pyo as doting and hilarious Sun-woo made us feel all the nostalgia and warmth. This soap was more about the acting — not necessarily the show itself. It was about how these actors had us caring about what happened to these characters, as if they were members of our own family.

9. The World of the Married (2020) – Kim Hee-ae and Park Hae-joon

The World of the Married jolted audiences to their foundations with its unflinching exploration of adultery, betrayal, and revenge. Kim Hee-ae's performance as Ji Sun-woo, wronged woman, was a masterclass in restraint. Her depiction of the full range of anger, hurt, and determination was captivating. Park Hae-joon, her plotting husband, Lee Tae-oh, was compelling as well. The performances in this show left audiences in awe, so it is a K-drama experience you won't forget in a hurry.

10. Misaeng (2014) – Im Si-wan and Kang So-ra

Misaeng is one of those extremely rare shows that isn't about romance but somehow still manages to tug at your heartstrings. Im Si-wan's performance as Jang Geu-rae, a young man struggling to find success in the corporate world, was raw and real. The performance of Kang So-ra as Ahn Young-yi, the intelligent and ambitious female in a man's world, gave depth to the corporate life and made us adore these characters so much. The performances, in all their understated brilliance, made Misaeng unforgettable.
