They say this is a no judgement zone and write to my tv binge hearts content but my confessional is liable to get me bypassed. Beheaded, even, in some countries or circles. However, if there’s one thing the past several years have taught us, it’s that the popular vote doesn’t always matter.

Distant Lands
My wife recently asked me what my top five favorite television shows were. I ran through the carousel of T.V. that stuck around in my life, ones that I quote too often, or that altered my perspective. I kept trying to gravitate towards live action shows but every time the carousel spun I saw more animated shows than I did real ones. I realized two of my top three favorite shows were cartoons and the reason I hadn’t immediately accepted this was due to the feelings of guilt for liking 'kids’ shows.

Reality TV Redemption
If I am going to start this discussion by being honest, I do not believe in guilty pleasure television. I think all television can inspire intelligent debate, whether it be about the Bachelor or Bojack Horseman. Within all shows lie something of value in our national discourse. Television allows us these small departures into someone else’s world. Whether that be in a loft of twenty-something white friends or a fantastical dragon-filled kingdom. The medium enables creators to build the world and live in it for years. I’ve always loved television. I love being able to live with the character for seasons. I love revisiting old shows and discovering new ones.

Supernatural Binging
We stopped watching Supernatural three, no four, seasons ago. We're Netflix, Hulu and Amazon watchers, never watching anything week-to-week anymore. And Supernatural had long been a guilty pleasure.

The Guilty Pleasure of Loving A Meme
When it comes to binge worthy shows, there truly are so many. The Office, Letterkenny, The Mandalorian, even The Simpsons (if you want to binge for days on end that is). My guilty pleasure isn't any of these, however. My binge show of choice is none other than JoJo's Bizzare Adventure.

Guilty Pleasures?
Yes, I'm guilty. And so is my son. Weekly, we are glued to History Channel's, "The Curse of Oak Island." We have been enthralled for going on eight seasons. And at times, we have watched re-runs of them. I know that this reality show might not appeal to just everyone, but it certainly does to us and here are some of the reasons why.

Grey's worthy
Grey's anatomy has been a long standing show with 17 seasons following the character Meridith Grey. It begins with her and a few other main characters becoming interns together at Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital. I began watching this back when it first came out and have stayed vigiliant in doing so. I call it my guilty pleasure show because whenever I feel anxious or stuck Meridith comes calling like an old friend to help me find refuge in the angst of my depression or anxiety.

As I sit amongst my sofa and allow my mind to vanish and disappear in the television, I indeed not only find myself so deeply in tune, but everything around me no longer exist and I became one with the dear Bridgerton series. A burning fire overcame my flesh as I witness the passion between the Duke and the leading lady, Daphne Bridgerton. While I escape from my society and enter into theirs, only one can imagine the pressure of women being held to such high standards of beauty, class and grace.

Our Little Secret
Soooooo, let me just start off by saying that 2020 was a very rough year. I lost my job, we lost three people on my husband's side of the family (one due to Coronavirus), my migraines took a turn for the worse and started getting a lot more frequent, I started getting severe anxiety/panic attacks, one daughter left home for military training and in now stationed on the other side of the world, another daughter stopped caring and is failing out of school, etc. And, those are just the main things that were going on.
