The Guilty Pleasure of Loving A Meme
My favorite show to Binge: JoJo's Bizzare Adventure

When it comes to binge worthy shows, there truly are so many. The Office, Letterkenny, The Mandalorian, even The Simpsons (if you want to binge for days on end that is). My guilty pleasure isn't any of these, however. My binge show of choice is none other than JoJo's Bizzare Adventure.
I imagine I heard about JoJo through the same means many people did. I was scrolling through my internet feed when I encountered memes about the show. This lead down a rabbit hole like no other. I found meme after meme before finally sitting down and saying "You know what? I'm going to watch this!". At no point since then have I ever looked back in disappointment or regret.
JoJo's Bizzare Adventure, in my opinion, is extremely well written. I would definitely say that the series has a rather slow start, but it ramps up rather quickly. It's easy to see the time and dedication that the creator of the series, Hirohiko Araki, put into the show just from the first season. I also love how the first season feels like it actually matters, despite being one of the less liked by fans overall. Events and characters from the first season have an impact down the line, and I feel like that's a quality that is fantastic for any narrative. While the show is often not taken seriously due to it's status as a meme, taking the time to watch even a handful of episodes does wonders to show the true nature of the show. The storytelling is done in such a fantastic way, and it's more than just a simply comedy that the fans often make it out to be. While there are humorous parts in the show, that doesn't help when Araki pulls on your heart strings by killing off much beloved characters, or when he shows the very real affects of PTSD on those who survived previous parts with shocking accuracy. This is not to mention that every season of JoJo feels different. JoJo's seasons are separated into parts, and each part has a name associated with it. While part 1 (The Phantom Blood) is reminiscent of Fist of the North Star, part two (Battle Tendency) feels more reminiscent of Indiana Jones. This sort of switch between tone and feeling is a heavy theme in the series as a whole, as the story telling isn't the only thing that changes. The art style evolves as the series progresses as well, and this dull drab color set with muscle bound meatheads becomes this colorful flamboyant world filled with unique and unforgettable characters. The action sequences in JoJo are also utterly fantastic. At times, especially in later parts, they can be downright brutal as well. This is made all the better as the show has the iconic Stand powers, which make for some of the most unique fights in anime.
I personally cannot recommend JoJo enough, and I will probably keep recommending it til the day I die. Until then, I'm left with an absolutely amazing show that I cannot get enough of. Meme or not, I'm beyond happy that I found JoJo's Bizzare adventure. Not only do I enjoy the show, but the community built around the show brings me a sort of comfort and joy unlike any other. They say that the only people who don't like JoJo haven't watched it, and with that comment, I implore you to take the time and watch the show. If you really like it, you could even read the unanimated parts of the Manga as well! Now that all that is out of the way, your next line is: "I think I'm going to go watch JoJo!".
