2018 Movies From Worst to Best
So, this year, instead of doing tissue-thin top and bottom lists of films I saw this year, I decided to just make one long list with every film I saw that was released in 2018. Incidentally, if you don’t see a film on this list, it’ll be because I didn’t see it… obviously. I’m honestly kinda surprised at how many films I saw this year, given that I was both dirt poor and offensively busy with graduating and then immediately jumping back into higher education. Some of these films, I actually have very little to say regarding… but, hey, we’ll roll with it.

2018: A Look Back On New York City Theater
Robert Massimi. 2018 had a lot of great theater, some so-so and some, terrible. Here is a look back at 2018. Let's begin, first, with the really good. Ferryman was the best thing I saw all year, that is saying something since this was a great year for both plays as well as musicals. Even though To Kill A Mockingbird was met with good reviews, I think it is a prime contender for many Tony Awards. Jeff Daniels and Celia Keenan-Bolger should easily be nominated for their rolls in Mockingbird. Waverly Gallery was also a great show. Eline May should be nominated for best actress in her roll as a women suffering from dementia. A Lifespan of a Fact, will, or should get a few Tony nominations, but Lifespan just wasn't in the league of the aforementioned. Lifespan never lived up to the hype. I personally liked it. It had three great actors in it and was very amusing, however, critics were lukewarm towards it.

'Mary Poppins Returns' - A Movie Review
Mary Poppins Returns was a spectacular sequel to the hit 1964 cult classic Mary Poppins. I was impressed with the film from its wonderful acting, the catchy songs, and even dancing along with the famous penguins. However, it is not practically perfect in every way.

'Mary Poppins Returns' Is It Worth The Watch?
I know everyone got filled with excitement when they first saw the trailer for Mary Poppins Returns pop up on their phone or TVs. I know I did just because I remember as a little girl watching the 1964 version on my Dora television and also the 2013 version Saving Mr. Banks. I think everyone enjoyed those two movies throughout their childhood and maybe through their adulthood mainly because we all had vivid imaginations as kids and wanted our own Mary Poppins. So when the trailer for Mary Poppins Returns was released I know some people were skeptical about the new feature to the brand.

'Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse'
Where can one even begin with such a delightful masterpiece? The music which was absolutely fitting with the atmosphere of the encompassing world? The visualizations that were unique and magnificent? Perhaps I should start with the storyline that had me sitting on the edge of my seat practically the entire time? Overall, this movie was exactly what we needed to both introduce the multi-verse theory, as well as give the viewers a fresh new face behind the Spider-Man mask. There were a number of different characters they could have gone with, but I believe that Miles Morales was unquestionably the ideal choice.

Fishboy Proves to Everyone He Really Is Cool, Really
The Introduction Truthfully, I might not be the best person to be reviewing any sort of DCEU movie as I have an unnatural bias toward liking these movies (Suicide Squad is even my favorite one) but I’m going to do it anyway because, while I absolutely love these movies and can give them the benefit of the doubt, I still do understand what they are and what they aren’t. That being said, let's dive into it.

Elegant, Thrilling and Suave: A Simple Favour Is My Film of 2018
As someone who works pretty much full time and has a mountain load of uni work to do I don't get as many chances to go to the cinema as I would like, even if I am studying film. However this year was a record for me as I saw four films in the cinema which was a nice change. The Incredibles 2 was fun and nostalgic but lacked enough Edna Mode screen time, let's be honest she's everyone's favourite. Mamma Mia 2 was a guilt trip by my cousin who really wanted to see it but no-one would go with him. It's utter rubbish but worth it for that one line, we all know the line. Ocean's 8 had the makings of something really special but crappy writing, weird pacing and lazy directing meant all the weight fell to the actresses to pull off a miracle. Good, but not amazing.

'Mary Poppins Returns': A Review
Like most people born since 1964, I was privileged enough to have grown up having watched, many many times, the original Mary Poppins movie. Probably one of the most magical and wonderful films Disney has ever produced, Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke defined the childhoods of millions worldwide for decades. So the announcement that there was to be a sequel to the 1964 classic delivered feelings of trepidation. How could they possibly re-create the magic and joy the original movie brought? Would Julie Andrews return in the role? How about Dick Van Dyke, who is now 93-years-old? Would he still be sweeping chimneys as Bert? Well, of course, despite the irrational misgivings, the first trailer was released for Mary Poppins Returns, and I think many, including myself, breathed a sigh of relief.

"Bandersnatch" Explained
Everything is not in our own control. Instead, there is some being that is out there, deciding everything that we do, think, and will become. Past trauma? That is destined from the moment you are born. Is it? Was it already decided that you would be born? What happens to the people that are not born? Is there a different thing controlling every entity? Or is this thing the same for everyone, and "out there" there is a universe for everything?

A Classicist's Exploration (Pt. 2)
I’ve previously investigated the connections between Pygmalion and My Fair Lady during my A levels, and now years later, I’ve come across it again. The comparison has always interested me, and I consider it one of the biggest examples of Classical reception in the current world. The similarities between the two sources are staggering, and the influence is clearly seen, which I shall digress upon in this article.
