What's the Future of 'Joker?'
A week and a half ago, I got around to watching the film Joker, starring Joaquin Phoenix (whose birthday happens to be today). It's a film that I was hesitant about seeing, and it definitely challenged my pre-conceived notions of Batman characters, particularly Thomas Wayne, who does not have many visibly virtuous characteristics here. (Though it may be a matter of perspective.) All that being said, I am glad that I watched it. I appreciated it more than I thought I would. It is a well-crafted, thought-provoking standalone. I am left with questions, which may be SPOILER-filled. So if you have seen the film, feel free to read on.

My Review of 'Zombieland: Double Tap'
I remember the first Zombieland movie. At the time it was a fresh new concept for an aging movie genre. They made fun of the old zombie movies while adding their own twist to the presentation, style and delivery of the dying genre. The executives of Zombieland spent 10 years to figure out how to cash in on the popular film.

My Review of 'Dolemite Is My Name'
People have really given Eddie Murphy a harsh time for the last few years. I'm not entirely sure why but his movies haven't been doing very well in the theaters. I have seen some of his later movies and they aren't as bad as everyone makes them out to be.

'Dolemite Is My Name' - Review (Netflix)
Brief Synopsis: Real-life struggling comedian, Rudy Ray Moore, sees an opportunity to improve his lot in life and achieve the success he has always craved when a chance meeting with a homeless vagrant gives him the idea to invent the character and comedy persona Dolemite. Not happy with the regional success the character brings him, Moore uses his fame and sales skills to persuade friends and others to make a film in the middle of the seventies blaxploitation era.

'For All the Women Who Thought They Were Mad'
Robert Massimi. For All the Women Who Thought They Were Mad has some good things in it: good lighting, scenic design, costumes and excellent sound design. This show also has some talented actors Joy (Bissera Tseggai), and Angela (Nicole Lewis).

James Reviews: 'Glass'
A lot can be said for Shyamalan's career, having been once hailed as the next Steven Spielberg, only to fall from grace and spend the late 2000s and early 2010s turning out bad film after bad film. However, after 2015s The Visit, something strange started to happen, we started assuming that he was on the path to reclaiming his former glory. Then, two years later, a little movie came along called Split, a January release that garnered very positive reviews and smashed the box office. The icing on the cake was learning that it was a spin-off of Unbreakable, and that the inevitable crossover was coming soon. Fast forward to now, and there's a more mixed response in the air. While it is an inferior entry in the now named Eastraill 177 trilogy, it manages to subvert expectations without coming across as pompous or overreaching.

'Survivor: Island of the Idols' Episode 5
Wow! What an amazing episode of Survivor tonight! First off, nice blindside, Lairo. You made a really good move by taking out Chelsea. Unfortunately, you ended up with Detective Dean who sought out the person who did it, who took Chelsea out. And he eventually figured out it was Missy, who is proud of it. Well, Dean, I don't think you'll get her out anytime soon, even if you want to. She's in the majority, you're not. Plus, you don't have any idols. But it's Survivor, anything can happen. At the reward challenge, first off, tribe swap! We have two new tribes. The new Vokai is a 4-4 split, four Lairo, our Vokai. Elaine, Missy, Aaron & Elizabeth for original Lairo and Tommy, Jason, Lauren & Dan for original Vokai. The new Lairo is 5-3, five Vokai, three Lairo. The three Lairo are Tom, Karishma & Dean while the five Vokai are Noura, Kellee, Jamal, Jack & Janet. They then competed for a reward of Applebee's. They crawled through sand in pairs, with pairs doing the puzzle at the end.

Review of 'Watchmen' 1.1
I guess I'm either the best or worst kind of person to watch and review Watchmen on HBO: I've of course heard of the iconic comic book story and its adaptations over the years, but I never read or saw any of it, and really know nothing about it. But with a cast consisting of Regina King and Don Johnson, and the creator being Lost's Damon Lindelof, how could I resist?

'Parasite' Review—Beautifully Brilliant Satire
The Godfather. Taxi Driver. Donnie Darko. Pulp Fiction. The Big Lebowski. Drive. These are all movies that I can tell you that I liked, but not nearly as much as most people, and when I heard the buzz surrounding this film, I was worried I'd feel the same.
