'Joker'
SPOILERS AHEAD AS A FAIR WARNING Joker is probably one of the most needed movies of our time and place. While critics were saying that it went too far, I believe the movie explained it what was needed perfectly. It put us on edge and told the story of probably one of the most loved criminals in movie history. Now I do not think it was what people expected from what they had heard, but for what the movie is, which is telling the story behind the Joker, it is superb.

'The Lighthouse'
SPOLIERS ARE AHEAD SO IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE MOVIE PLEASE STOP READING NOW. The Lighthouse was a film that turned out to be something I was not expecting. First and foremost, the presentation of the movie is something that I am not used to in the slightest. It was shot in a 4.3, meaning that it is on a much smaller screen, and it was in black and white, making it appear like a much older movie. This really gave the movie a new perspective for me as someone who is recently getting more into the movie scene.

Review of 'Watchmen' 1.3
Watchmen checked in with a clarifying, excellent episode 1.3 this week, introducing Jean Smart as FBI honcho and super good-guy killer Laurie Blake, and giving us a nice extended rendition of Desmond Dekker's "Israelites," one of my many all-time favorite songs (in fact, I'm listening to it on YouTube right now).

Review of 'His Dark Materials' 1.1
His Dark Materials debuted on HBO Monday night. It was good to see—especially Ruth Wilson as the mysterious and alluring Marisa, the very night after The Affair concluded, splendidly, on Showtime, where Wilson played the alluring Alison, of which I'll say no more in case you haven't seen it.

My Review of 'Birth of the Dragon'
I've heard of Birth of the Dragon back when it was to be released back in 2016. I never got the chance to see it. It was partially because there were a lot of unfavorable reviews of the movie and I just didn't have access to watch the movie. Recently it's been added to Netflix, and I thought I'd finally check it out.

The Joys of Joy Fielding
Chances are that you haven't heard of one of my favorite authors/fellow bibliophiles, but you have seen her books if you like to frequent libraries or bookstores. Her books may have looked you in the eyes, daring you to read them, but you didn't have the time or the fortitude. You might've picked it up and liked what you saw, but again where's the time?

A Fateful Day
Hollywood is in the business of making unrealistic stories become realities. Unfortunately, studio executives have been in this business for too long, and as a result, they set unrealistic expectations for their products. Many executives wish for a franchise that can be dusted off the shelf every couple of years, have a new installment made, and the cash cow be milked for decades to come. Terminator is just not that kind of franchise. The first two installments were timeless classics (I prefer the second movie though), but they told a story that came to a natural conclusion, with nowhere else to go. But of course, that never stops Hollywood, and so three sequels/reboots were made, and sure enough, two of those three movies were just more of the same of the first two movies. Now, for what could be one last time, a sixth installment is trying to catch lightning in a bottle, and frankly, they missed yet again.
