‘The Painter and the Thief’ and the Relationship Between the Artist and Their Muse
One of my deepest fascinations in film is when artists find a way to blur the line between art and reality. As I’ve said time and time again, meta readings of films are some of my favorites. I think part of my intrigue has always been that films (and art in general) can take on a greater meaning than what’s on the surface; they can be a connection to the director’s life, a representation of an actor’s public persona, or something greater. You can learn something about each person, not just the film itself. That’s why The Painter and the Thief is such an interesting documentary at its peaks. It takes the idea of art imitating life and life imitating art to another level, exploring the exceedingly curious relationship between Czech painter Barbora Kysilkova and Karl-Bertil Nordland, a street tough who nabbed her paintings from a gallery in Oslo.

My Review of "Modern Family: Season 1"
Modern Family is about a large extended family. Each part of the family has some nuance to them that makes for some fun and interesting jokes. I like the variety they provided for each of the families as they bring in a nice twist to the perspectives that we might not see ourselves.

Not All Pop Culture Aspects Should Have Movie Adaptations
Have you ever realized that major pop cultures, like books, TV shows or video games, directors decided that it should be brought to the big screen? With these adaptations, it give readers the chance to view their favorite novels on the big screen and new fans to enjoy another aspect of pop culture. While new fans enjoy the action-pack, drama or love story on the screen, readers who already read the book might feel indifferent about the project based on the outlook.

Homeward: An Honest, Detailed Review
If you’re going to give an accurate review on a film like Homeward (2020), you have to watch it for what it is, not what you want it to be or were expecting. You’ve gotta go into the experience with an open mind; talent of all kinds put months and often years into the making of movies, and while art is subjective and up for interpretation, film making overall is no easy profession. Some motion pictures flop and others break box office records, but each movie has a collection of good and bad reviews circling the internet from every day fans to acclaimed critics. Whether you read them for enjoyment or for ideas of what to watch when there’s seriously nothing else to watch, here’s an honest review of Homeward.

A Filmmaker's Review: "The Devil Next Door" (2019, Netflix)
There were some aspects of this documentary that were better done than others. First and foremost we have the portrayal of information. Let us first go through what that information is. The information is simply this: a man who is now living in America after coming from Europe years before was once the ‘Ivan the Terrible’ at the Soribor Death Camp in Poland during the Second World War. This man ‘Ivan the Terrible’ was the one who took the most joy in sending the Jews to their deaths and was considered one of the scariest and harshest guards on site at the time. The suspect is taken to Jerusalem to face trial and is initially sentenced to death by hanging. But, when other pieces of information emerge, he is claimed to be not guilty and sent back to the USA. It is after a further point that he is considered to be a guard at the Treblinka Death Camp but not the ‘Ivan the Terrible’ they are looking for and he is arrested in America and put in prison with due course. During this time, he fakes disability and being too sick to face trial, a farce used by the Nazis during the Nuremberg trials in the 40s. However, he is still sentenced and we are left to make up our own minds about who he is after being given every piece of information about his past, his present and finally - his end.

A Filmmaker's Review: "The Accountant of Auschwitz" (2018)
This documentary really shakes you, but the feeling you also get from it is anger because it is so late for the trial to happen. The overview is this: the now 93 year-old “accountant” of Auschwitz that was responsible for stealing the valuable items from the Jews as they entered the death camp was now on trial after several years. The background tells us the story of what the survivors of Auschwitz thought of this guy and what happened at the failed Nuremberg trials. It also talks about the case of Ivan the Terrible at Treblinka and Soribor and the trials that went ahead in Israel for that some years before. When we know all of this, we can only imagine that the man who was once the “accountant” of Auschwitz is living rather on borrowed time since he would’ve always been in fear of being caught. We get the opinions of others - Jews and non-Jews on what the general consensus is around putting this man on trial. It is very clear that the non-Jewish people don’t care for it and think that the 93 year-old should live in peace. Whereas the Jewish people, understandably do not think this is the case. There are many many opinions during the film in which the speakers state that a man of 93 who committed a crime at 23 or 33 etc. is still a guilty man and that he should not get away with it. Then we get on to the trial itself.

Shut Your Butt! Celebrating the Glorious Stupidity of ‘MacGruber’
If there’s one thing I admire most in this world, it’s an individual’s commitment to the bit. What that “bit” actually is depends entirely on the situation — the possibilities are endless. Pertaining to the world of movies, it can be Lars von Trier insisting on vilifying himself in the public eye, thus creating a highly devoted fan base and almost ensuring that he will continue to make movies as long as he wishes. (My favorite example is in Antichrist, which begins by showing his name in the title credits, followed by the title of the movie itself, creating the hilarious combination “Lars von Trier, Antichrist”.)

My Review of "Gone With The Wind"
Gone With The Wind has been suggested to me by an old friend for the longest time. I looked at the runtime of the movie and it scared me from watching it for the longest time. It's a whopping four hours long! He asked me to trust him in his suggestion. After years of hesitation I finally caved. I have to say that I thought it was pretty dumb at first, however at some point in the movie, I got sucked in.
