#TBT La Cienaga and The Wonders
Lucrecia Martell’s La Ciénaga and Alice Rohrwacher The Wonders are both female-led vehicles that deconstruct notions of the modern family. The two films are also personal reflections of their directors, with Ciénaga based in the suburbs where Martel was raised and Wonders also using Rochwacher’s place of birth as reference. From the perspective of their protagonists, beyond-their-years emotionally intelligent teenage girls, the features combine elements of satire and realism to convey intergenerational difference; also relying on feminist phenomenology to unpack the patriarchal order consistent with traditional family structures.

Midnight Sun
Midnight Sun is Twilight in Edward Cullen’s point of view. When an early draft of the manuscript was leaked, it really upset Meyer so much that she never finished it until many years later. I think it came to a point where many twilight fans, gave up hope of it ever being released having to rely on fan fiction for their needs. The Twilight Series has divided book lovers. Some readers love the intense teenage romance between Bella and the sparkling vampire, Edward. Others are repulsed at the writing and the characters. However I’ve seen some people say that through another person’s point of view it might chance the story to something more interesting.

My Review of "Dolly Parton: Here I Am"
Dolly Parton: Here I Am is a documentary that I would have thought they'd have made a long time ago. After watching the documentary though, I have a better understanding of why a documentary was probably hard to make. She lived a very interesting life and I keep forgetting how much Dolly has accomplished over the last 50 years. She's one of those old school people that is quite endearing but also difficult to explore.

A Film Addict Reviews! Corpse Bride
In the spirit of the current season, I’ve been trying to watch more of the Halloween type films. It is one of my favorite holidays and it sucks that I can’t celebrate the usual way I like to. My family and I would scare the entire neighborhood by turning our front yard into a bit of a haunted house. Some of our inspirations for decorations have come from Tim Burton films. So, I decided to give Corpse Bride another shot since its been a long while since I’ve seen it.

Why You Should Watch “Cobra Kai” on Netflix
“The Karate Kid” came out in 1984, 3 years before I was even born. It was still popular enough while I was growing up that I was aware of its existence but I can’t even remember when I finally sat down to watch it. It left no lasting impression on me. Which is why I was a bit surprised to find myself somewhat charmed by its most recent sequel - a series titled “Cobra Kai”, the first two seasons of which are currently streaming on Netflix.

“Enola Holmes”, starring Millie Bobby Brown, Henry Cavill and Sam Claflin as Enola, Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes, and Helena Bonham Carter as their mother Eudoria, has been a big success since it premiered on Netflix a few weeks ago. What is it exactly that viewers find so appealing? Here are five very good reasons for the film’s popularity - in no particular order.

My Review of "Next"
Next is an older movie that came out back in 2007. It's really funny how much you notice fashion trends when you watch older movies. This movie actually had a really great concept that I was really wishing they'd play more with. Instead they kind of got drawn out with an overly dramatic romance story that took away a lot from this movie.

An Analysis: Harry Potter & The Sorcerer's Stone
After making some rather distasteful and transphobic comments; the support for JK Rowling has quickly dissipated. But the love for the series that made her famous still is strong. Of Course, I spoke up about these issues publicly on Tik Tok (BMiki13 if you want to watch them, and I will also be the first to admit that yea, the wording is kind of aggressive but the point behind them still stands).

Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell
Let's begin the story at the start. This was not supposed to be my kind of book. It was not even supposed to be read. It is Young Adult fiction - a genre I normally steer clear of. But, I was shopping for books at this year's Big Bad Wolf Sale and saw this book. Then, an earlier memory flooded back in. 'It is a good one', someone had mentioned. 'Perhaps you should check it out.' The face that said it was now hazy in my memory, but the message had lingered on. Next, I did what I often do. I logged onto Goodreads and checked the book out - lots of ratings and reviews, average rating of 4+. Not bad. I am not saying that Goodreads ratings are definitive. But in many instances the ratings have reflected my personal thoughts after reading the book. So, I took the plunge.

A Film Addict Reviews! Seven Samurai
I am an avid gamer. I’ve played the likes of Red Dead Redemption 2, Overwatch and most recently, Apex Legends. One game I have recently enjoyed a lot is Ghost of Tsushima. For those who don’t know or have ever played it, It is the story of a samurai, whose whole clan has been wiped out to the mongols. It is up to you, to save the island of Tsushima to save the mainland of Japan. I have had a lot of fun playing it and I’m genuinely excited for the new update that’s coming out this Friday. In honor of this update, I wanted to see one of the inspirations for the game. So, without further ado, I present to you Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai.

Downtown, An animated show about urban life in New York in 1999.
TV plays an essential role in my life, so I started watching reruns of all my favorites when the pandemic hit. Not from Netflix, Hulu, or any other technology and services provider. But from my DVD collection, while looking at my many choices, I came across a particular animated show that I watched when I was in High school. It was called Downtown, and an animated show was based on urban life and everyday life.

‘Enola Holmes’ is MBB’s ‘Citizen Kane’
Ah, autumn. The leaves changing colors, the air getting crisp, the faint smell of campfires. Autumn is my favorite season, and it only has a little bit to do with the fact that I have a fall birthday. It is also the best season for movies, period. Every Twilight, Harry Potter, and Hunger Games came out in the fall, and you know I was at the midnight premiere of all of them! One of Netflix’s newest films, Enola Holmes, joins a pantheon of excellent teen-focused movies. Enola Holmes is the perfect movie to watch on your bed or couch with a cup of something warm. It embodies the exact feeling of a Harry Potter marathon or the Halloween specials on ABC Family. My only complaint, truly, is that they should have released this mid-October.
