Top Gun Maverick
Going to the theater to watch a movie on the big screen has always been an iconic part of my life. A chance to unwind, relax, and escape from the rigors of the real world for a few hours while getting immersed in an alternate reality. Add in the unforgettable smell of artery-hardening, fake-butter-covered popcorn that greets you like a warm hug as soon as you step through those doors, and you catch a heavy dose of nostalgia. Some of the best memories of my childhood were going to movie theaters with my friends. It helps that I lived through decades that had the best fashion, music and of course movies—the 80’s and 90’s.

Madagascar - A Movie Review
Any ideas on how we’re going to get out of Madagascar and back to New York? Madagascar was released from the wild into theaters in 2005. Four zoo animals find themselves on a crazy adventure. Landing on the beaches of Madagascar, they have to learn to fend for themselves in the wild.

Should You Read the "The Realm of the Elderlings" by Robin Hobb?
Robin Hobb is an American author who writes stories in the science fiction and fantasy genre. Hobb also writes under the name of Megan Lindholm. The Times has dubbed Hobb as "one of the great modern fantasy writers" for her stories set in "The Realm of the Elderlings". A total of 16 books, which are organized into 5 series, have been set in this realm. It is one of the most expansive and detailed worlds that I have ever come across. Understandably, starting a 16-book series can be quite intimidating. So, in this blog, I will delve into some of the highlights of this fabulous world that should convince you to begin your Hobb journey.

Ms. Marvel
I have personally been looking forward to this show very much, and although I am disappointed by the change in her powers for the adaptation, I have hope. The lead actress is a perfect choice in not only appearance and personality but in knowledge. This girl really knows her comics and I am excited to see how that informs her portrayal of the character. So here we go with episode 1…

Paradox in Expectations: Perceptions of the Average Woman
Satyrica by Titus Petronius is a latin novel filled to the brim with satire and outrageous story telling. Several characters, including the narrator himself are subjected to constant ridicule and impossible situations. However, amidst all the characters we encounter as readers, a very specific form of obsertity is targeted towards female characters and dynamics that happen to include them. While the novel covers various pursuits of indulgences by various characters, when women are mentioned they seem to be regarded as a form of indulgence itself. They are referred to as objects, but contradictory to that, women are also written in a notably unique and freeing way. Misogyny is not an uncommon occurrence in literature and history, and it comes in all shapes and forms. So, while Petronius satirizes women and exhibits little to no sense of morality, he also uses this opportunity to illustrate how society expected women to be, versus the reality of who the common woman was.

The Lost World: Jurassic Park is Perfectly Fine
With the third movie in the new Jurassic World trilogy soon to be released, I decided that I would re-watch the films to catch up a little bit. Not that I really needed too, I've been a fan my entire life of Jurassic Park, and these films scratched that dinosaur itch.

My Review of "Bill Burr Presents: Friends Who Kill"
Bill Burr Presents: Friends Who Kill has recently dropped onto Netflix's ever growing expansion of stand-up comedy specials. It's exclusive to Netflix and it seemed to have been taped pretty recently. Although some of the jokes may seem a little dated.

My Review of "Jay and Silent Bob Reboot"
Jay and Silent Bob Reboot came out in 2019. We haven't seen the likes of this dynamic duo for quite some time. They've been in a number of movies in the Kevin Smith movie universe and it seemed as if it would go on forever. This movie feels like a swansong for the duo or maybe a new direction for another generation to take over.

Around The Clock
Introduction This is a short series of stories based on stories shared with me by Vocal friends. The third one is from Oneg Kushir and is called When Worlds Collide and this is another for the Vocal Fantasy Prologue Challenge. There are a lot of time references in this story and that made me think of the wonderful opening sequence to the BBC’s “Around The World In Eighty Days” series which obviously refers to time as it is based on a wonderful animated clock sequence.
