My Top-Five Film Books
I am between things right now. Another season is coming to an end. Not the summer, but the film festival season in my hometown. I volunteered to assist with the Fantasia Film Festival for a second year in a row, and now that it is over…I have time on my hands before I return to a teaching job at a college that covers the bills but no longer fills me with joy the way it once did.

A Family Affair
We are finally feeling the effects of the duel strike that effectively shut down Hollywood last year. Few films are getting theatrical releases this year and anything that was produced seems to be going straight to streaming services. That said Netflix, Max, and Prime Video have all been seemingly cranking out the original content and as a reviewer I have to do my due diligence. So today we are taking on Netflix’s A Family Affair. I know nothing about this movie and honestly the most intriguing thing about it is its cast. I will watch Zac Efron in just about anything, so here we go.

Twisters
We went to go see Twisters this past weekend. Glen Powell really can generate chemistry with absolutely nothing. There were parts that were funny, and entertaining and even actually good. That said, not even Glen’s incredible magnetism could save this movie from mediocrity. There was really nothing extremely wrong with the film but there was also nothing extremely good about it. So let’s talk about Twisters.

The Golden Girls and Sex and the City share the same character archtypes
Today I went to church and bible study after a very traumatic month of being relocated due to hurricane devastation. I respect the pastor of that church and he has continued to check in on me so I wanted to show him (and Jesus) that I am not an ingrate, nor have I totally forsaken my faith. I am a complicated woman and one thing I'm proud of myself for is the ability to ascertain when I must take my time about who and where I should spend my time. If I feel like it's only going to make me feel worse when I'm already drowning, I take a break.

Trap Movie Review: diverse views on a unique plot
Since its release on August 2, 2024, Trap has sparked a variety of opinions. The film, directed by M. Night Shyamalan endeavors to merge horror and thriller elements, centering on a serial killer, portrayed by Josh Hartnett, who finds himself in a precarious situation at a pop concert alongside his daughter. However, critics have predominantly deemed the execution to be insufficient.

Deadpool and Wolverine
Deadpool and Wolverine has been a highly anticipated film for nerds everywhere for quite some time now. I myself was extremely excited to see this movie. The first two Deadpool movies are hilarious but they are also narratively good stories with strong emotional cores. So imagine my surprise when I finally saw Deadpool and Wolverine and it was not good. Sorry nerds I know this might get me kicked out of the club but the film was underwhelming at best and disappointing at realistic.
