My Top 100 Horror Movies! Part 1. Content Warning.
so spooky season is upon us again,it's one of my favorite times of the year and so I figure why not share 100 of my favorite horror films that I like to watch every year even though I don’t get around to watching every single one. Because that’s a lot of movies, but these are the ones that I continuously come back to over and over again. Or that I like the most and some of them include recent titles, which is surprising.

Lilly Munster Was No June Cleaver. Top Story - October 2023.
The series The Munsters was an American sitcom that aired in the 60s and played off the idea of an odd family. As a satire of America’s booming suburban life, the show mixed the wholesomeness of such a hit as Leave it to Beaver with monster movies.

Maxed Out on Horror, for a While . Top Story - October 2023.
In honor of upcoming Halloween, I have composed two haiku verses about my experience with horror movies. A little background for context: in summers of 1989, 1990, and 1991, while a university student, I had a job as a train car attendant serving long-distance trains. When I was off my shift, I used to go to the video salon car to watch pirated American movies that were over-flooding our previously scarce entertainment options since Gorbachev started perestroika.

The End of the Long Dash
Now, I am very upset. From Wikipedia: The National Research Council Time Signal was Canada's longest running radio program, begun November 5, 1939 until its final broadcast on 9 October, 2023. Broadcast daily shortly before 13:00 Eastern Time across the CBC Radio One network, it lasted between 15 and 60 seconds, ending exactly at 13:00...The segment was discontinued in part due to concerns about accuracy as the CBC's feed is distributed over the internet and satellite as well as conventional radio.

The Meg 2
I vaguely remember seeing The Meg at a drive in theater during shark week. And though I personally am very confused by the fascination with shark movies I think The Meg is a delightful kind of bad. So when I found out that The Meg was getting a sequel I was very excited. You know a movie is going to be plotless when it stars Jason Stathem. So here we go with my thoughts on The Meg 2: The Trench.

Gen V
We left off episode 4 with Emma getting all big trying to subdue Sam at the doctors house. And there is this really hard cut and our characters don’t seem to remember anything from the night and day before. So we are missing big giant chunks of time from a very intense moment. And though it seems like it was just a giant party there seems to be more going on.

Dancing With The Stars
Okay so I had never seen Dancing With The Stars before this season. When I started ballroom dancing it was something that I was vaguely aware of but really had no desire to watch. Students bring in videos all time of dances from that show that bear no resemblance to actual dancing. They have fun tricks and fancy set pieces but for the most part Dancing With The Stars is not dancing. But the existence of Alyson Hannigan on the show this season has broken me down and we are watching, so here are my very qualified thoughts. Please remember this is coming from an internationally certified ballroom dance instructor who is also a rhythm champion and a smooth and standard finalist.

Gen V
Gen V is now releasing week to week after dropping 3 episodes at once. The first 3 episodes did a great job of setting up the story, the characters and the conflict. I think it does a great job of staying consistent with the world we already know from The Boys. Nothing in the spin off contradicts existing canon and it does a really good job of expanding on the parts of the world that The Boys doesn’t really show us.

Goosebumps
Now that it is October, many Halloween media has dropped. I thought I would start with the new Goosebumps series on Hulu. I am a total Goosebumps kid, I used to read the books and my dad, brother and I would all watch the original movies when I was younger. So as someone who is already a fan of the concept I thought we’d check out the new series.

The Shows That Got Me Through Covid
I feel like we don't talk about the Covid years a lot. I feel like a lot of us have pushed those dark times under the rug and we are just praying that we never have to go through it again. Sometimes, it can be hard to revisit the dark times.
