Totoro is a Masterpiece
So at this point my two year old daughter and I have watched “My Neighbor Totoro" at least ten times and all I can say is that it is nothing short of a masterpiece. That really is not that much of a shocking revelation though is it. I mean each and every Miyazaki film is often heralded as the best thing since sliced bread. I have seen several of them over the years and all of them have been something special. But Totoro, man what an experience this film is. I wanted to sit down and express why it speaks to me so personally and why I think it is a masterpiece in filmmaking.

From The Darkness
I have written a new independent comic book called From the Darkness. It is a story about overcoming stereotypes and fighting the pressures and expectations that are put on teenage girls by society. Its actually a story that gets really dark but with adolecent depression on the rise I think its appropriate. I've found an amazing team of artists that have really done a lot to help me bring this story to life. Here is some of my interview with Temple of Geek.

Heaven, Hell and the Multiverse
The mythology of heaven and hell has often been used in literature as a way to comment on ethics in general. Dante's Divine Comedy takes us on a journey through hell, purgatory and paradise, the most famous of these being his Inferno. Milton gave us Paradise Lost. The satirist Jonathan Swift described The Place of the Damned by its inhabitants including "Damned poets, damned critics, damned blockheads, damned knaves, damned senators bribed, damned prostitute slaves". The poet William Blake wrote The Marriage of Heaven and Hell in which he contrasts the free Dionysian spirit of hell with the authoritarian and carefully regulated, dare we say repressed, heaven.
