No Time To Die Since Daniel Craig first took up the mantle of James Bond back in 2006 with Casino Royale, the James Bond films have followed a clear pattern: one good one followed by a bad one and repeat. As a result of this rule, we have been treated to the highs of Casino Royale and Skyfall, and the lows of Quantum of Solace and Spectre. What's more, given that Spectre fell into the category of 'a bad one', No Time To Die promises to be a return to form for the beloved franchise.

I am buggin’! Cher and Dionne are totally back in style! The dynamic duo will be back on the big screen as the 25th anniversary of Clueless approaches in early May. Of course, like any Clueless fan, I am so excited about the nostalgia this particular movie brings. Although the movie became an instant 90's classic, it will soon make is combat in today's pop culture. The campaign called black girl magic is taking the front stage of equality in the film and media industry. The movement inspired me to share my memories of Clueless and what it means to me as a black woman.

Why 'The Goldfinch' movie didn't work
'The Goldfinch' was released at the end of last year and it was met with harsh reviews from critics. Was the movie bad? I don't think so, I quite liked it when I first watched it, I thought it was brilliant. Because I liked it so much I decided to buy the book and read it in the span of a few days, despite its monumental size. As I was reading the book I began to realise what the movie did wrong and why it was met with such reviews even though it had such a perfect formula to succeed. Talented actors, great cinematography and a Pulitzer winning story.

Scary Disney: Pinocchio: The Coachman, Donkeys and The Whale
Pinocchio. The famous wooden puppet who was magicked to life by a blue fairy and desired to be a real boy one day. Mr Disney made a masterpiece of this but left a few dark details that we’d all remember for years to come. Honest John and his pal Gideon the cat lead him astray from school one day and convinced him to join a puppet show with a man called Stromboli. After an outstanding show Pinocchio wishes to go home, but Stromboli has other plans and locks him in a bird cage against Pinocchio's own will, a nightmare for all children. Miss Blue Fairy appears from nowhere, and then Pinocchio starts to lie about his whereabouts that day, not a very good role model to kids here, he vows to be good and Miss Blue Fairy lets him go. Stromboli could have been nicer by offering him money, fame and telling Geppetto, but I guess the whole story would have been different that way. The word kidnap comes to mind, which gives off a bad message to its audiences. Pinocchio is led to Pleasure Island where he makes a friend, Lampwick, he smokes, drinks which leads to him being half turned into a donkey, he runs away and ends up jumping into the ocean trying to save his Father. He comes across a montster of a whale, Monstro, who has Gepetto living in his mouth. Pinocchio manages to save his father and the Blue Fairy turns him into a human, a happy ending for everyone. The movie did however leave in a few scenes enough to scar its viewers for the rest of their lives.

Scary Disney: Fantasia: Yen Sid, The Dinosaurs and The Night on Bald Mountain
Fantasia. Walt Disneys third movie. A stunning masterpiece leaving its audiences in awe. We see pieces from a creepy wonderful sorcerer, dinosaurs teaching us evolution and the magnificent Chernabog leaving us with nightmares for the rest of our lives. The music and the images are certainly beautiful making us remember this movie for years to come. Walt certainly did a good job with this movie.

Stop With The Disney Sequels!
I was struggling trying to think of an unpopular opinion but then it hit me when I was watching Frozen II for the first time last night. I AM SO OVER THE DISNEY/PIXAR SEQUELS! Not every (if any) movie needs one! I don’t care how great the first one was. We all know the second (and god forbid, THIRD) is not going to be any better! So why do we keep getting them? Money, I suppose. But wouldn’t making something new be more worthwhile?

Mulan: Childhood Hero
Anyone that knows me, knows that I love Disney. I love the princesses and knights in shining armor as well as animated talking animals. In 1998, Disney created the first female hero known as Mulan. Mulan was a young maiden who had failed to impress the matchmaker, feeling that she failed. Mulan decides to take drastic measures to save her father's life. She cuts her hair, she steals the horse and runs away to join the army. The ancestors decide to send a great dragon to aide her, but when Mushu (the disgraced dragon) breaks the great statue, he decides to embark on the mission himself. Mushu tries to help Mulan cheat, but she does not get away with it, when Mulan is suddenly dismissed, she does not quit. Instead, Mulan climbs to the top of the totem and retrieves an arrow, proving to herself and other soldiers that she is capable of doing anything. Eventually, through a music montage, she learns how to be better and eventually becomes the top of her class. I was always impressed that even though Mulan was the only woman in the training camp, she managed to best all of the men. Yes, I am aware it is a cartoon, but little girls everywhere should be looking up to brave princesses like Mulan. Mulan taught me that I do not need a man to save my life, she taught me that women can do anything that men can. Mulan also risked a lot for her country, the fact that she ran away to pose as a man would cost her life. Mulan then saw the Huns pop out of the snow and she went to warn everyone in her hometown. When no one believed her, she tried to find someone that would. Mulan did not give up no matter how hard it got. Also, do not forget the incident on the mountain when she selflessly grabbed the missile and pointed it at the mountain causing an avalanche killing most of the Huns, yes some survived but all the group she trained with lived or at least seemed to. Mulan overcame obstacles over obstacles and in the end, she saved China and brought honor to her family. Of course, Mulan could not have done it on her own, Mushu helped her a lot during the start of the training, he came up with Mulan's fake name and saved Mulan from embarrassment many times throughout the training. She was also lucky a number of times, could have perished during the avalanche, she could of have been discovered as a woman earlier in the movie. Of course, Mulan gets injured and they discover that she is, in fact, a woman, but her life was spared because she saved Shang and he spared her life. The cricket was one lucky bug. Even when Mulan was feeling down, she did not have the time to think, she had a problem and figured out a way to solve it. At the end of the movie, her father was right "The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all"(Mulan, 1998). That quote has helped me through tough times in my life, I remind myself that when I am stressed everything will work out okay because I will be resilient at the end. I think that every girl should have a role model like Mulan to look up to, girls need to feel empowered at a young age and the character Mulan brings that to life. This was the movie that displayed what feminism is defined as. It shows that young girls can be heroes too.
