Geekology End of Year Awards 2019
The Rules Each year we ask our collective of geeks what they think the best movie, TV series and game of that year was. Their answers are put to a vote, each vote lasting 48 hours before being closed down. Nominations for the 2019 awards had to be released, naturally, in 2019. TV series had to have finished in 2019, ruling out anything that will only be halfway through at the time of polling. Series that were released after the final tallies, e.g. Netflix’s The Witcher will be allowed in the 2020 polls next year.

"Judgement Day"
Robert Massimi. "Judgement Day" has many lessons to be learned in it. The body of the play and its core nexus, however, is how people are; whether it be in Germany pre World War, or Timbuktu. In a small town in Germany, people are negative; the economy has slowed to a crawl, few have good jobs, (although throughout the play, few have many worries). One of the few good jobs left in this small German town is that of the Station Master, Thomas Hudetz (Luke Kirby). Hudetz is diligent, hard working and a dedicated employee of the German Government. In a small town where everyone knows your business, he is both liked and felt sorry for. Thomas Hudetz married a woman thirteen years older than himself. Frau Hudetz is emotionally unstable and demanding of her younger husband. Unable to have a social life, we never fully know as an audience how and even if this has had any effect on him.

Survivor: Island of the Idols Finale & Reunion
Well, this has been an insane season with a lot that went on, so let's see how it ends, shall we? So, we start with Rob & Sandra. They chat with each other about the whole Survivor experience, such as Rob finding love on Survivor back in Survivor: All-Stars, Sandra just happy to get the money and how it was this time around, teaching the game to these newbies rather than competing against them. Then, a boat arrives at Lumuwaku. The final five are told to grab their belongings and head on the boat. So they go, and they meet Rob & Sandra who gave them a short but sweet speech about the game, making it to the final five and how the game is going to be from here. They then said their goodbyes and left the final five at their new home at the Island of the Idols with a fully built shelter, many fruits and chickens and some new special buffs for the end to take home with them. But, what they didn't tell as they left was that there was still one last test remaining. Tommy figured something was up and everything was too perfect to be true, so he looked, found the clues on the buff, the red coconut insides and the red block of wood, all while despite being color blind. Good job, Tommy. But, his mistake was telling Dean who pretended to be lazy but in all actuality, he faked it to look for the clues on his own and through some searching, he found the idol and completed the final test that Tommy could not, making him even more powerful in the game.

Bread and Puppet
Robert Massimi. Bread and Puppet has been around since 1963. It was founded by Peter Schumann as a way of using puppet shows as a good versus the bad. Schumann's belief was that the art of puppetry helps women, men and children overcome the established order and the obsessive submission to its politics and consequent brutalities.

Should DC Retire the Joker
For years, the one constant through the ever-changing actors and directors within the Batman movies was that most DC films were terrible. They fell either into the ridiculously campy and gave us such gems as the iconic bat-nipples and credit card or they were so dark and edgy that they became just as over the top and silly. But now it wasn’t and became the climax to one of the most long-awaited showdowns in cinema history with Batman and Superman having mothers with the same first name. Good DC movies were few and far between with the most iconic characters being reduced to cheesy caricatures of themselves to make them appeal to the common audience often leaving longtime fans dissatisfied. Amidst all these failures there was the gem that was The Dark Knight that contained the best portrayal of the Joker that live action movies have ever seen.
