comics
From Marvel to DC, Geeks explores the popular and independant comic titles in the geek universe.
Not So Super: Marvel Heroes Without Superpowers (Part 1)
In Marvel's comic world, many heroes have the benefit of being an alien, having powers, or both; however, there are more than a handful of heroes that have proved themselves just as heroic as any superpowered individual on the battlefield. While many of them you may recognize from the movies (Black Widow, Hawkeye, Iron Man, etc.), we're also going to take a look at heroes that are not so well-known. I've split this into two articles, due to the surprisingly large amount of civilian superheroes, so be sure to check out 'Part 2' when you're done here.

Fan Cast: Marvel's Missing International Heroes--Union Jack, Spider-woman & More
We all know about the Avengers, and now the rest of the world knows about them too, particularly since the fallout from Age of Ultron. So, when are we going to see more of the non-American heroes that Marvel has to offer, like Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch? I know... Black Widow is technically international, but she calls SHIELD family, so I don't count her, per se. What's with the continued lack of diversity? And who the heck are these heroes in the first place? Well, here are some quality international Marvel characters that we could see the Avengers bumping into (or even joining forces with) in the future.

Who Came First? The Copycats of Comics
For all the so-called rivalry between these two comic worlds (and I say so-called, because there isn't one), there does seem to be a lot of crossover/similarities between the two. My question is which came first and who has copied the other more often? Let's take a closer look at some famously similar characters.

How The 'Justice League Of America' Pilot Ruined Comics For Everyone
Picture the year 1997 — Mike Tyson bites Evander Holyfield's ear, Microsoft is announced as the world's biggest company, and Batman & Robin assaults our senses with rubber nipples, killing off a franchise for eight years. A dark year for the superhero world, but unfortunately Batman & Robin wasn't the worst thing to happen to DC that year. The short-lived Justice League Of America dropped a clanger on us all, from which we may never recover.

9 Things to Know About Silver Sable
This has been a busy few weeks for Spider-Man: Homecoming, with the plethora of casting news (with little-to-no character reveals); however one of the most interesting rumors out is how, after Spider-Man: Homecoming, Sony is planning on building a Spider-Man universe, starting with Silver Sable. Whether or not you believe this latest rumor, I thought it wise for us to educate ourselves as fans. I have to say, I have become a big fan and, if Sony does this right (with the assumed help of Marvel) it will be a big step for one of Marvel's leading ladies. So, who exactly is Silver Sable?

Luke Cage on Netflix: Cast & Character Details Confirmed By Marvel
Earlier this year, Marvel fans rejoiced as the front runner for the Netflix series, Daredevil, blew us all away and quickly became a favorite in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (with a second season being announced shortly after its release). Marvel has set a high bar for our expectations of this Marvel/Netflix partnership and we are only looking forward to the second series, Jessica Jones, arriving on November 20th and the third, Luke Cage, which is currently in production. Luke Cage will be played by Mike Colter, making his first appearance in Jessica Jones, bringing his character into play before his series own series. Marvel has also recently confirmed Mahershala Ali will play Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes and Alfre Woodard his cousin Mariah Dillard. Along with Rosario Dawson reprising her role as Claire Temple from the Daredevil series, they join Simone Missick playing Misty Knight, Frank Whaley has been cast as Rafael Scarfe, and Theo Rossi as Shades a.k.a. Alvarez, who is Cage's nemesis.
