Christmas Has Come Early: 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' Is Getting A Comic Book Sequel
What's this, what's this, there are sequels in the air? While it may be a little too early to start thinking about Christmas, in my eyes, it is never too early to think about Halloween. Rising from the grave of Hollywood hell, it seems that Disney has an early trick or treat for us this year, and there is confirmation that #TheNightmareBeforeChristmas is getting a sequel!

War of the (Comic Book) Worlds: Kevin Feige Downplays the Big DC vs. Marvel War
Ding ding, Round 1. Just Like Superman vs. Lex Luthor or Captain America vs. Red Skull, some people are just born to be enemies, but are movie studios supposed to be the same? While on the page, both #Marvel and #DC are pretty similar — featuring almost carbon copies of some characters — the move into theaters has taken them on a whole new path to rivalry. Forget an Infinity War or Batman v Superman, this is the #MCU vs. the #DCEU — or is it?

Not Dredd And Buried: 'Mega City One' Producers Discuss Karl Urban's Possible Return For TV
It has been five years since we left #KarlUrban's titular #Dredd patrolling the streets of Mega-City One in Dredd, and the dust has never really settled on Lionsgate's divisive movie. Fans loved his portrayal, but we can't quite put our finger on what went wrong at the box office, and even Urban himself has gone on record to say something wasn't quite right.

Yabba Dabba Doo!! These Classic Cartoons Are Getting Their Own Comic Books
If you grew up, or remember the 90's, then you probably watched several classic cartoons (some of which were likely reruns at that point) that were a part of the Hanna-Barbara family. Well, this spring, you're going to want to race out and snag a new line of comic books being distributed by DC Comics. These comics will be based on some of the most popular classic cartoons, but will cast a new light on them. Yet, don't fret if you're a purist, because even though the concepts are a re-imagining, the heart and soul of the cartoon is still intact. Dan DiDio, DC Entertainment Co-Publisher had this to say about what was coming for DC Comics:

Netflix Is Turning Gerard Way's 'Umbrella Academy' into a Show
With the success of Castlevania, which recently premiered on Netflix last Friday, the company has announced they are about to have another show hitting the air. The company has announced that they will be picking up the Dark Horse Comics series called The Umbrella Academy, which is a rather dark, twisted, and slightly comical take on the superhero genre. It's a series that was able to garnish critical appraise when it launched and shortly after took home an Eisner award (this is the comic-book version of the Oscars).

It's an Anti-Matter of Fact: James Gunn Reveals Which Fox Character He Wanted for 'Guardians of the Galaxy'
Somewhere out there, there is an alternate reality where everyone can be friends and Fox and Marvel can put their differences aside. However, in the meantime we are locked in a bitter (Infinity) war where you can't say the name Reed Richards without causing a (Sue) Storm in a teacup. Thanks to a bitter dispute about who owns which characters, we are left with two Quicksilvers, minimal X-Men in Deadpool, and why people are unsure how you can have a Spider-Man-less Venom movie.

Caps All, Folks: Marvel Drops Massive Bombshell On Evil Captain America
If you thought time-meddling villains and a reality-warping Cosmic Cube was bad enough in the fictional worlds of comic books, how about when they go and fundamentally alter real history too? Unless you have been hiding under a rock for the past year, you will have heard about #CaptainAmerica's Nazi reimagination and his infamous "Hail Hydra" routine. For those hoping that #Marvel's Secret Empire #0 will give some closure to the saga and bring back the stars and stripes Cap we know and love, turn back now, this isn't going to be for you.

Well Bat Sucks: Is Joss Whedon's 'Batgirl' Just His Canceled Comic Book Idea?
As #JossWhedon prepares to bring #BarbaraGordon to flight in the highly anticipated #Batgirl film, all of Hollywood is hoping that the director can deliver another powerhouse #superhero film. When Whedon was announced as the director back in March, many were surprised by his apparent jump from #Marvel to #DC. However, when the hype died down, Whedon clearly came out as a popular choice to helm the shock reveal that we will be getting Batgirl.

American Patriotism In Comics: The Good, The Bad And The Indifferent
July 4th, Independence Day, is without a doubt one of the most fervently upheld days in American society. Sure, it's been slurred and has faced a backlash in recent years because of the actions of certain individuals, yet the tradition remains that the Fourth of July is a day to celebrate our country's freedom and sovereignty. Americans celebrate this idea by drinking beer, waving flags, shooting guns, shooting fireworks, celebrating with family, and visiting memorials to honor those who have fallen in war. However, patriotism isn't confined to simply our American culture, it's something that has permeated nearly every aspect of American entertainment.
