For those of us who grew up in the eighties, John Candy was a regular part of our childhood, often popping up on our TV screens and delighting us with his comedic roles. The lovable actor and comedian filled the 80s and early 90s with tonnes of classic films, he was a scene stealer, he always stole the show! He had that rare quality of likability, I mean who doesn't love John Candy films?!

Fred Rogers has made a positive impact to millions of people worldwide. His show, Mister Rogers' Neighborhood (1968-2001), talked about a wide range of issues, interacting with friends, songs, and taking viewers on tours of factories. Growing up, I would watch him on TV whenever I had a day off from school. After his death from stomach cancer in February 2003, Rogers has influenced many people like myself and a decisive role model. During his lifetime, he has received over 40 honorary degrees and several awards, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2002, and a Lifetime Achievement Emmy in 1997. On top of that, he was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame in 1999.

You would think that if you’re young, talented, loved by millions, and rich your problems would be small and life basically would be good. Well, apparently that isn’t true, because Hollywood lost a very talented actress on August 5, 1962, when Marilyn Monroe was found dead at home in Los Angeles, California. I have seen a lot of her movies and I can say that, except for Niagara, I preferred her in lighter roles, in movies such as How to Marry a Millionaire, Some Like It Hot and The Seven Year Itch.
