A Filmmaker's Review: Autopsy: S5 E3 - "The Last Hours of Heath Ledger" (2015)
"The Last Hours of Heath Ledger" is the 3rd episode of the 5th season of "Autopsy" - a show that investigates the deaths of stars who died in somewhat unexplained, mysterious or confusing circumstances that seemed either completely out of character, or simply didn't add up. This one seems to be more about how Heath Ledger led his life and led up to his death than just dealing with his death when he actually died. When this was initially on television I think I missed the first half of it, because I live in England it was usually on Channel 5, including that one they did about Michael Jackson. But this one was on - and I think I missed about 25-30 minutes of it. So, as I now have Amazon Prime, I can watch all of them at my own disposal and when I have the money to pay for them.

5 True Facts About Sylvester Stallone
There is not a movie fan in existence that doesn't know the name Sylvester Stallone. Best known for his portrayal of boxing lug turned superstar Rocky Balboa, as well as the original shell shocked special forces soldier John Rambo, Stallone is an icon. While his career is experiencing something of a rebirth after his action movie extravaganzas The Expendables and its sequels, there's always been more to Stallone than meets the eye.

Big Bird Joins Mr. Hooper
#BigBird and #Oscar were two of my favorite characters on #SesameStreet growing up. I was therefore incredibly sad December 8, 2019, when I learned that Caroll Spinney, who portrayed both of these characters in one respect or another up until 2018 when he had to stop physically playing Big Bird due to balance issues.

'Shall We Dance?'
The heading is the name of one of the movies I love the best that stars actor Richard Gere, who was born on August 31, 1949 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I know that if this handsome actor came forth and asked me, “Shall we dance?” I would be on my feet in a second. He has starred in such popular movies like Pretty Woman, An Officer and a Gentleman and Chicago. I know that Pretty Woman despite the prostitute story reminded me of a modern day Cinderella story, and by the end of the movie when the character Gere was portraying came after Julie Roberts’ character I was both crying and cheering. It’s a real feel good movie with a touch of comedy and romance.

Breakfast at Sweethearts
I arrived in a clap of thunder and knew immediately that this was not going to be an ordinary Mardi Gras. I opted out of staying with friends in Sydney because I felt I needed to open my stay up to new experiences. ‘Let 2017 inspire you’ my mantra for the year. I booked into Central Hostel (hotels had inflated their rates over Mardi Gras to a ridiculous prices like $900 a night) and upon arrival immediately unpacked. Sydney was in full Mardi Gras mode, rainbow banners lining the streets and arcades. I felt like the prodigal son returning home for the first time in years, slightly wounded from my experiences in Melbourne but stronger for every bullet hole. I had arranged series of appointments and catch ups with old friends, watching the parade, and a meeting with Hayes Theatre about the possibility of bringing Audrey Hepburn and I Consider Our Assets up to Sydney. Audrey being my pet musical theatre project. A nine year journey, a project that saw me through tough times including 18 months of therapy.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Quiz
Arnold Schwarzenegger is tough. Almost as tough as his name is to spell. So how much do you know about this action movie hero, bodybuilder, real estate developer, entrepreneur and governor (makes you feel like a girly-man when you see ALL the stuff he has done)?

Marilyn’s Men: Mrs. Miller
Marilyn’s longest marriage was to Arthur Miller, the great American playwright. The couple had met while Marilyn was still married to Joe DiMaggio, an unhappy marriage in which Marilyn was seemingly being punished for who she really was. Arthur offered her love and appreciation for all that she was, every single aspect of her – not just the blonde bombshell seen by the press or the subservient housewife Joe had wanted her to be.

Marilyn’s Men: Mrs. DiMaggio
By 1953, Marilyn was fast becoming one of the biggest stars in the world. Her leading roles in hit films How to Marry a Millionaire, Niagra and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes had cemented her as a box office draw, and the scandal surrounding the release of her nude pictures had created a whole other image for her: she was officially a sex symbol. Though these nude pictures had been taken in 1949 when Marilyn was a struggling actress just starting out, and had been released in 1953s Playboy without her consent, they had succeeded in drawing the attention of Hollywood to her. Rather than denying that the woman in the photos was her, Marilyn simply shrugged the pictures off with a refreshing honesty – she had posed for the pictures because had no other choice, and did not see how that event could or should affect her current career. Of course, it affected it greatly.

Marilyn’s Men: Mrs. Dougherty
Jim Dougherty was one of the few people privileged enough to know Marilyn before she was Marilyn. He had been the next door neighbour of Grace McKee Goddard, long time friend of Marilyn’s mother Gladys and now legal guardian of the 15 year old Norma Jeane, when in 1942 Grace moved out of state due to her husband’s work. Due to state laws, Norma Jeane could not leave the state of California with Grace, and so was facing the daunting possibility of returning to an orphanage. In her turbulent early life, Norma Jeane had been in and out of a multitude of foster homes and orphanages, her mother unable to look after her due to her severe mental health issues, and during this time Norma Jeane had been subjected to physical, mental and sexual abuse by the very people who were supposed to be looking after her. The possibility of returning to this life was frightening to her, but Norma Jeane also expressed fears that she was too young to be a wife. Seemingly caught between a rock and a hard place, Norma Jeane married Jim Dougherty on the 19th of June 1942.
