Steve Burton address the hatred “ General Hospital’ fans have toward his female co-stars

Some GENERAL HOSPITAL fans continue to cyberbully Kelly Monaco and Kelly Thiebaud personally along with their characters. They have a champion, however, in Steve Burton who has been defending his castmates. The actor who portrays Jason Morgan says he does not care what is said about him because he can handle the hate. He does no, however, enjoy his two female love interests being targeted. No matter how much this situation of online hate is brought to light, there still continue to be adult soap fans who act like children.

Both Thiebaud and Monaco have spoken out saying they are only actresses playing roles yet they are attacked personally as much as their characters. Kelly Monaco has been assaulted online by fans who no longer want her character Sam in a romantic relationship with Jason. This is childish because the actress is only doing what her script calls for. Soap stars do not determine the direction of their character. There are also viewers who made fun of the actress when she shared a photo where she was not wearing makeup.

It's one thing to disagree with the actions of a soap character but there is no reason to be meanspirited to the actors who are only doing the job they were hired for. Soap stars learn the lines they have been given whether they agree with the direction of their character or not. These men and women are portraying a fictitious individual and it is only a role and not real life.

Kelly Thiebaud has been criticized for her hairstyle just because she wore bangs. Some GENERAL HOSPITAL viewers were really cruel in their comments. She really caught a lot of flack when her character Britt slept with Jason. It is quite disturbing that adults are behaving like children on a playground and taking what is happening on the soaps so seriously. Steve Burton told SOAP OPERA DIGEST that he can handle it when people hate him it upset him when fans "do that to the ladies" The actor said he does not get on social media much but recently he logged on and saw "nasty comments" about his costars.

It is interesting that the GENERAL HOSPITAL actress who should be receiving a lot of hate has not mentioned anything. Laura Wright portrays Carly Corinthos who is Jason's best friend. When the storyline had the duo become engaged the viewers were beyond outraged. Perhaps Carly is not receiving hate is because everyone knows that her husband Sonny is not dead and will soon regain his memory and return to Port Charles.

Soap opera's are entertainment and escapism and should not be viewed as real life. The viewing audience should not be attacking the hardworking actors and actresses who work hard to give us romance and drama. Recently Chad Duel who portrays Michael Corinthos said that the workday for GENERAL HOSPITAL is long and grueling and that the soap had gone on hiatus to give the cast and crew a break.

Please grow up and stop making life hard for the celebrities who are just trying to make a living. Enjoy GENERAL HOSPITAL and other daytime drama's for the escapism and love in the afternoons they were intended to be. Steve Burton did not give any clues as to whether or not there will actually be a wedding with Carly or if Sonny will return and interrupt it. he also gave no clue as to whether or not he and Britt will get back together so stay tuned for updates.
