Sonic 3's Post-Credits Characters & Sonic 4 Setup Explained
Director's explanation

Jeff Fowler, the director of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, has revealed the post-credit cameos in the movie and their upcoming roles in Sonic the Hedgehog 4. Sonic (Ben Schwartz) was attacked by a horde of Metal Sonics in the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 post-credits scene, which featured the characters' iconic game designs. He is cornered when Amy Rose, wearing a brown hood, shows up and uses her Piko Piko Hammer to destroy the robotic army. This lays the groundwork for the plot of the upcoming film, which will incorporate game elements while telling a brand-new tale.
In an interview with ScreenRant for the film's digital release, Fowler disclosed that discussions are still going on regarding Amy and Metal Sonic's future roles following their initial appearances in Sonic the Hedgehog 3. The director clarified that a lot of the fan discussion about the characters' voices and the plot's direction is still in the early stages of development. Even though there is still more work to be done, he stated that they do have a plan for where they want to take the characters. See below for what Fowler had to say:
I love to just watch the fan conversation, and just see where things go. Obviously, casting is such a huge part of any of these characters, but it does kind of come from the needs of the story and of the script. So, I think want to make sure that, whatever direction it goes, that it is servicing the character needs for whatever story is being told.
I mean, usually the way these post-credit teasers work is we're so jamming on finishing the film, but at the same time, you don't want to just throw characters in there and not know what you're going to do with them. So, there's certainly, as we were winding down on Sonic 3, and as we were prepping that post-credit teaser, we absolutely have had a lot of really great creative discussions and got excited by some ideas. Because you don't want to paint yourself into a corner and put a character in there and then not know what you're going to do with it. But it's all very preliminary, and much more work needing to come in order to really get that process going.
What Fowler's Remarks In Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Mean For Amy & Metal Sonic
Metal and Amy Sonic made his debut on the Sonic CD in 1993, preventing Dr. Robotnik from destroying Little Planet. Sonic saved the pink hedgehog in the process, which is apparently being reversed for the next game, in contrast to the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 4. However, based on Fowler's statement and the pair's initial appearance, it appears that a general idea of how their story will be told has already been established. This probably entails incorporating elements from their game into a remix for the film's setting.
Similar to how the cast of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 introduced Keanu Reeves as Shadow, it's possible that more well-known voices will join the franchise. Although Amy's actor is still unknown, Schwartz might play Metal Sonic, alluding to the way Ryan Drummond portrayed Sonic and his counterpart in Sonic Heroes. However, the plot is still unknown; some theories include the use of Sonic CD's Time Stones or unexpected appearances of other game elements.
Our Perspective on Metal & Amy The Roles of Sonic in Sonic the Hedgehog 4
Metal and Amy With some of the most recognizable characters at the forefront, Sonic is the ideal choice to carry on the franchise. Returning to Sonic CD, it is possible that Sonic the Hedgehog 4 will incorporate additional elements such as Little Planet and the Time Stones, which in turn implies time travel. Numerous other elements from their debut and other games they are significant in are probably going to be included in the sequel, as Sonic the Hedgehog 3 already demonstrated how faithfully new films can adapt the games.
