Just as Andre was putting his plan to purchase a ton of human hair into action, a robbery gone awry at the strip club threatens to derail everything. Mo has another vicious blow up with his wife to be, and Mr. Lee gets another threatening message from his mysterious tormentors. The crazy doesn’t stop in Snatched.

Who knew that a book about wigs was going to be something like this? I mean Claws comes close to mind when I think about how much drama and intrigue can be added to something along these lines and that Sheldon has gone above and beyond what’s expected makes me an incredibly happy fanboy. When you think about it, engaged in the story to the point of going off page, script and story, where does all the human hair come from for the human hair wigs? I know cancer folks get it from locks of love and such but commercially speaking where do human hair wigs get their hair? It’s a pretty big market too because nowadays wigs are once again a status symbol to some or “work clothes” to others, I’m looking at drag queens. So that I’m contemplating this just goes to show how a well written story can engage the reader and make them think of things differently or in a way they never would have thought to before.

I am a fan of the way that this is being told. The story & plot development that we see through how the sequence of events unfold as well as how the reader learns information is presented exceptionally well. The character development that we see through the dialogue, the character interaction as well as how we see them act and react to the situations and circumstances which they encounter does a magnificent job in highlighting these ever evolving personalities. The pacing is amazing and as it takes us through the pages revealing the twists & turns along the way the more I want to see what is going to happen next.

I really appreciate the way that this is being structured and how the layers within the story continue to emerge, grow, evolve and strengthen. That chat Mo has with his intended yeah that took us someplace unexpected alright. The layers open up these new avenues to be explored and these add this great depth, dimension and complexity to the story. How we see everything working together to create the story’s ebb & flow as well as how it moves the story forward is impeccably achieved.

The interiors here are great! Can I just say that seeing the employees hanging from the entrance well that’s brilliantly done and that the men are shown makes me happy, because too many are afraid to show what we see. The linework is phenomenal and how we see the varying weights and techniques being utilised to create this kind of detail within the work is extraordinary to see. We see some decent amount of backgrounds being utilised, though we could always benefit from seeing more, to enhance and expand the moments. They also work well within the composition of the panels to bring out the depth perception, sense of scale and the overall sense of size and scope to the story. The utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective in the panels show a remarkably talented eye for storytelling. The various hues and tones within the colours being utilised to create the shading, highlights and shadow work shows a great understanding of how colour works.

This is a great book. I really like how we are seeing this unfold and how these folks who are featured all have an interest in the human hair trade. The drama, intrigue and the sheer chutzpah of the actions that takes place here are magnificently rendered. With some superb writing and strong characterisation along with these stellar interiors make this come to life like a cable network show.
