Read "Goriot" feeling
It was a time when capitalism was just emerging and revolution had taken place. It was a real jungle age. At that time, capitalism officially proclaimed the power of money to the world for the first time.

Goriot, originally a rich businessman, suddenly rents a flat in the house. But the retired businessman ended up a pauper.
At first the landlady liked old Goriot's wealth, his boxes of clothes and his gold snuff box. I even wanted to marry him again. Everyone looked up to him, but then it became clear that his money was running low.
Eat out twice a week, up to twice a month. From the second floor to the third, and no fires in the winter. The landlord was not satisfied that old Goriot was getting poorer and poorer, so he became more and more unhappy.
Finally, it turns out to be two cold-blooded daughters of old Goriot, gnawing the old goriot to gnawing clean. The two daughters drank blood and drained old Goriot's savings, and they treated him as a shameless man.
Goriot finally moved to a cheaper room, and he could no longer afford to eat or smoke. He sold his gold jewelry and became a real poor man.
But he told others that one of his daughters was a banker's wife and the other a countess. Others do not believe, daughter so noble how can be so cruel to the old man.
But the other main character, Lastinico, confirms that the two ladies are indeed the daughters of old Goriot. But after squeezing Goriot dry, let him die cold and alone, no more recognition.
Poor old Goriot, devoted all his love to his two daughters, gave them a good education, and gave them each a dowry of 800,000 francs. But the two eyeless daughters turned against each other.
Goriot, in order to please his daughters, gave them all the money and sold the shop. To the last penny also no, two daughters still only recognize money, no money to die.
It's a very simple story, but Balzac writes it at the beginning very funny, he says you read it for fun, you don't know it's true, you don't know it's true.
Balzac is a great French writer, the father of French fiction, his position in literary fiction is unshakeable. But if the novel Goriot was so simple, it would not be of such high standard. Why is that?
It turns out that although this book is written about Goriot, it is revealed by another protagonist, Rastignico. Lastinico was originally a young man with ambitions and a good heart. I want to be an honest judge. But he had no connections.
He had witnessed Goriot being drained, the life and squalor of the so-called upper classes, and was beginning to waver.
Madame Bothion and Volton, two grown men, two wise men with great insight. They saw that Lasstiniko wanted to climb the ladder, so they taught him how to look at society.
Madame Bauselion told La that you should be an eye for an eye and an eye for an eye. The harder you are to society, the meaner you are, the more cruel you are, the faster you will climb.
Madame Bausseon's observation of human nature and society is very deep, but the other main character, Volt, is colder and harsher. Fu Tuo cold told the small pull, this is a mutually engulfing society, innocent honesty has no use, you either have to be like a shell like blast in, or have to be like the plague spread in.
In today's terms, it's either tough enough, shameless enough, or greasy enough.
Bao Sai Leng just hint small pull to seduce Gao old man's daughter, and Fu Tuo cold more ruthless, direct design to kill another childe, then the young lady became the only heir. And then let La go after the lady.
At this time, Xiao La had no conscience devoid of, thought about it or to listen to Madame Bausaion's suggestion, to seduce Goriot's daughter. Not the girl whose brother died.
Unfortunately, the money of the two daughters was finally taken away by her husband, Gorot was squeezed dry after a stroke of cerebral hemorrhage, before he died, asked to see the two daughters one last time, but refused to come. He shed his last tear and died.
Finally, only little Pull to help old Goriot funeral, funeral expenses are small pull out. He saw it all and felt that he had "finished his education" and "gone to hell" in his career.
After he buried Goriot, he decided to challenge the society, "Let's do it!"
Therefore, "Goriot" appears to be a tragedy of Goriot being gnawed to his old age, but it is actually a story of Rastignico who has just entered the society.
Sure enough, in the other stories of the Human Comedy, we see that Lasstiniko eventually becomes an upper-class figure.
"Goriot" isn't much, 170,000 words, and it won't take long. Balzac likes "Goriot" very much, finished writing has not published, told a friend said, this is my masterpiece. It was later added that it was as good as Grandet.
Grandet was a capitalist and a landlord. In Balzac's pen, Grandet is like a tiger, a python, very patiently waiting for prey to be fooled, and then swallowed up slowly digest.
Grandet had one goal in life: to make money. In other words, cheating. He screwed the whole city, everybody. But the strange thing was that everyone respected him, even though they had been cheated and knew that he was obsessed with money.
People think that he is a successful man, is a man of skill. Rich is ye, even if pit me, is ye.
It was a time when capitalism was just emerging and revolution had taken place. It was a real jungle age. At that time, capitalism officially proclaimed the power of money to the world for the first time.
The bourgeoisie uses money to teach the nobility to be a man, beating the powerful into water and becoming the new powerful. We can still see that the United States, the world's largest power, is still dominated by big landowners and big capitalists when it comes to choosing its president and deciding its national policies.
So, back in Balzac's time when capitalism was just beginning to grow savagely, it was really unregulated savagery, the jungle world, the man-eating world. Grandet was admired as a successful man, not because they feared him to lick him, but because they really thought him a great man.
A sinister, scheming, shameless gold slave, a lifetime to die in the joy of the money, like a greedy snake swallowed elephant, but became the idol of people's love, just because he is the victor of The Times. In philosophical terms, God is dead and the shock of money is the new God.
Money is their God. Religious beliefs, family values, affection, social responsibility, moral ethics, all gone. Finding ways to make more money every day is the only thing that's worth doing. Bow down and worship.
And this process of worship, Balzac took the opportunity to describe in detail how bad a person can be, how dark and ugly can be.
On the surface of the beautiful upper society, the connection between husband and wife, father and son, brother and sister, all money. It's all dirty business behind the scenes.
In the jungle, in the social arena, Lastinico finally understands that his dream of becoming an upright judge is worthless and nobody cares.
Witnessing all this, the small pull completed the first lesson of social philosophy of life. Want to become a successful person, only like them, into this hell.
He has one sentence:
Now I understand it all. The more cunning you are, the faster you will rise. You have to strike people mercilessly, they will be afraid of you. If you only treat men and women as stage-horses, ride them to exhaustion, and leave them at every stop, then you will reach the peak of your desire. "-- Rastiniko????
What does that remind you of? Think of some time ago I recommend to everyone that book: "Life positioning" that is a success to learn, there are indeed many career success of the truth.
But the author also compares the road to success to a horse race. All the people, things, things, companies and everything that help you succeed are horses.
So at the time I said, this book though maybe maybe maybe has a little bit of a recipe for success. He wrote a little truth. But he has no shame in his bones. -- and most importantly, it's not exclusive to him, it's centuries old.
So I don't think the book, at least in my case, is fresh or cool.
But in the jungle of capitalism, that book could be considered a commentary on the Bible.
Okay, back to Balzac. I have introduced him before. His father is a nouveau riche, but he doesn't get on well with his mother and father.
Although he is a rich second generation, he is born strong in the jungle society. But he gave up his fortune and ran away from home to live in what is now called a Beijing basement or a Shanghai tenement.
He was working on his novels, and I won't tell you about these struggles that I've written about before. It is worth mentioning that he also repeatedly went to business. After writing novels and becoming a writer and a master, he made repeated investments. And repeatedly failed. Really a very passionate and energetic person who wanted to do something great all his life.
It's not enough to be one of the greatest writers in history. You want to be the richest.
So why he's so good at writing, because he's really in all walks of life, both the bottom and the top, and he knows everything. So his novels are particularly persuasive and truthful.
His Human Comedy was regarded as the French encyclopaedia of its time. I really recommend his book. It's very informative and interesting to read.
Balzac was a very warm and lovely man. He always told people that I had written a great novel this time. You know, the excited kind.
But in his early years, he wrote novels such as Donkey Skin, although he began to emerge, but literary critics said that he was too young to be a master, can only write some second-rate novels and third-rate novels.
Balzac was very angry. Just a friend gave him a little inspiration and advice, so he began to write "Human comedy" - the novel universe.
Yes, like the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Balzac was the first person in history to write a "fictional universe", 200 years before Marvel.
The so-called Human Comedy is a large collection, which is Balzac's life's work. The plan was to write 200 novels, to be one big universe.
It is also divided into the first battlefield, the second, and the third.
Is it exactly the same as Marvel's Avengers, Phase One, Phase two, phase three?
So why reading and art, all the entertainment that you see now, actually has a origin. The more you learn, the more you understand, the more details and associations you'll see, and the more fun it will be. When you have more fun, you will be more informed and open-minded. Like to like, but know that there are a lot of things worth liking.
It's not like some people who haven't seen anything and don't know anything. See a person, a thing like extremely, it is an idol, as if this idol heaven and earth egoistic, no one before and no one after, not allowed others to denigrate.
In fact? It's just a misunderstanding of ignorance.
Speaking of Balzac, it is a pity that he made money and spent money, went bankrupt and had trouble with his family, stayed up late every day, and fell ill when he was less than 50.
Poor guy died before he finished his book.
The Human Comedy consists of just over 90 stories. Hopefully, one day, I'll read all 90 stories.
