RADIANT SOUL

When I think of Tracee I think of JOY

Living life to the fullest

Life was constant until a Radiant Soul was born on October 29, 1972, in Los Angeles, and her name was Tracee Joy Silberstein. Still, the world knows her as Tracee Ellis Ross. Ms. Ross is the 2nd oldest out 5 kids, and the daughter of Diana Ross and Robert Eills Silberstein. Growing up in a world where your mother is an icon maybe is a hard act to follow, but not Tracee. She moved to her own bet, growing up shy but slowly revealing her vibrant personality. She was raised by a woman that valued herself and others, life, family, loving yourself first, and owning who you are. Diana Ross's ethics and gracefulness came from a place within, and to add fashion is astounding. On September 19, 2019, Tracee appeared on Tamron Hall show, and she asked: "What was it like growing up in your mother shadow? “People always say what was it like growing up in your mother's shadow, I never felt like I was in her shadow, I grew up in her embrace, I grew up in my mothers' arms, in her love." -Tracee

As a young woman trying to find my way in this world can be tricky, but we all have that one person we admire. It was hard for me to accept my true self because I really did not have that role model in my life. I've searched and got my feelings hurt by people I thought I could trust. Giving your time and energy to someone that doesn't show love back can be hard to swallow. Seeing Tracee on Tv blew me away with her charisma.

"I need to see my own beauty and to continue to be reminded that I am enough, that I am worthy of love without effort, that I am beautiful, that the texture of my hair and that the shape of my curves, the size of my lips, the color of my skin, and the feelings that I have are all worthy and okay." -Tracee Eills Ross. Reflecting the early 2000s, being a young and eager soul pacing my way up the stairs to the TV. I looked at my mom with excitement in my eyes. I asked her, "Could you please change the channel to UPN."

I looked forward to this day, September 11, 2000, which is the first episode of "Girlfriends." I was 4 years old at the time, and I was amazed at how beautiful all the women were and still to this day. After each season, I grew more love for this show to the cast, the writing, acting, and costume everything was so profound. This show hit subjects that women battle with and also uncomfortable situations to talk about. This show taught me something like equality in the workforce, marriage, being single when your girlfriends have a man, trust in your friendship, race, and more.
