Prepare for Halloween with a Week of Horror Anime: Dark Gathering

We made it to the last day of the week of Horror!! Every day I listed a horror anime to watch to get you ready for Halloween. Even though I am listing horror anime I tried to pick anime with different kinds of horror.

Dark Gathering

Storyline: Keitarou Gentouga has the ability to be a spirit medium. In junior high school, he got someone else wrapped up in a spirit possession incident, and he has been a shut-in for more than two years. As he reintroduces himself to society as a private tutor, he meets a genius girl named Yayoi Houzuki. Yayoi is instantly able to tell that Keitarou has skill as a spirit medium, and she invites him to go with her to a haunted location. The two then start their journey capturing evil spirits.

There have only been 2 anime in which I had to take breaks between episodes because of how disturbing they got. This is one of them. The cute animation is a cruel joke, I was completely caught off guard by the graphic and disturbing content. For this anime to only be 25 episodes so far they jam back it with horrific stories.

Funny enough this anime reminds me a lot of Pokemon. They hunt down and capture ghosts to fight other ghosts. As well as the animation and bright colors, it made me want to watch Pokemon. It also reminded me of Demon Slayer, They aren’t just demands, they are demons with a sad backstory. Same thing here, They aren’t just ghosts they are ghosts with a sad backstory.

My Review: This anime caught me off guard. I knew I was going to be watching an anime about ghost stories but I had no idea of what was about it come. I don’t believe in ghosts and paranormal stories have never scared me. The backstories and curses of these ghosts are disturbing. I am going to put another warning here, They cover topics with suicide, Serial killers, sexual assault, cannibalism, child abuse, and more. With that being said this was an amazing anime. I was sucked into the storyline, and characters. I hope they come out with season 2 sooner rather than later.

Decoding the Significance of ‘The Boy and the Heron’

What did I think of the Boy and the Herron? I was lost the whole movie! I didn’t follow a thing, and even though I was entertained I could not tell you a single thing about it after it finished.
