Petula Clark and Myrna Smith disprove rumors about Elvis Presley
The women bust three myths surrounding the legendary King of Rock and Roll that have been around for decades.

Elvis controversies
There have been many rumors surrounding Elvis Presley the king of rock and roll over the decades and some of those controversial issues persist today although they have not been substantiated. There will always be fans who don’t believe anything negative about Elvis and others who accept whatever they hear as the truth. Having said that there are two female entertainers who have given interviews that seem to dispel three specific long-held beliefs about Presley.
It has been said that no woman could ever say no to Elvis, that he did not pursue women of color and that he was a racist but Petula Clark and Myrna Brown’s stories suggest that these views are not accurate. There are Internet forums where fans discuss the many actresses with claim to have had affairs with the king of rock. When one of his lovers was chastised because she was married several women came to her defense agreeing that no woman, single or narrows could resist him but this is not true.
Petula Clark
Petula Clark was born on November 15 1932 and as of this writing, she is 1989. She is a singer who is best known for her 1964 hit single Downtown. Clark has said that she and singer Karen Carpenter met Elvis after one of his concerts and he suggested a threesome. Clark said she quickly got Carpenter out of there because she was innocent. Obviously, Elvis assumed that all women even inexperienced ones would desire him and gave no thought to the fact that Karen was not promiscuous.
According to Clark, Elvis continued to pursue her even though she was married and she kept turning him down. She even said no to a role in a movie with the rock icon.
The cover photo shows thst Preseky, Carpenter and Clark were at least together on one occasion but only one of the three is living and there is no one to say it’s not so. If Clark’s tale is true she is at least one female who said no and she is not alone.
Myrna Smith
Myrna Yvonne Smith ( May 28 1941 – 24 December 2010) was a gospel singer who sang with the Sweet Inspirations. At the time she joined the group it included Cissy Houston the mother of Whitney Houston and her cousin Lee Warwick the mother of Dionne Warwick. Smith has shared that Presley pursued her relentlessly but she kept things in the friend zone.
She said she and Elvis remained friends and often flirted with one another and after he died she married his friend and manager Jerry Shilling., Smith sang backup for Elvis from 1969 until he died so her refusal to sleep with him did not affect their working together. If her story is true it disproves the rumor that Presley was indifferent to black women and she is yet another woman who said no.
Smith indicates that a third rumor about Elvis May possibly be false. This is the one that keeps changing like an urban legend. Elvis claimed he never said it and no one has come forth to say they heard him utter the words. Even so, there are at least three variations to the tale. Presley was alleged to have said that the only thing a nig$er could do for him was to buy his records and shine his shoes but he denied it..
In the other versions, he supposedly said black men or black women could do nothing for him but buy his records and shine his shoes. Smith and other African Americans have defended Presley by saying it was not in his nature to make such a statement. Smith traveled with the king of rock and roll for decades and probably knew him pretty well. If she is to be believed then the rumor that he disrespected African Americans was not true.
So now we know that at least two women turned down sexual advances from Elvis and if you count Karen Carpenter that’s three. Presley did pursue at least one black woman and there could be more who are keeping their private business to themselves. Elvis few up around black people, attended their church services and had admitted being influenced by black culture and music. This does not prove that he never made a racist statement by puts things in a different perspective.
