Last month, December of 2021, was a month of many dramas. A lot of things happened so much so that at times, it was hard to keep up. One of such dramas that took place was drama between Olori Naomi, her sister, Simi Oluwaseyi and Nollywood actor, Ogbolor. The drama started then and it has carried over into this January of 2022.

This is everything that has happened.

Ooni of Ife and Olori Naomi

Last month, news broke that the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi and his wife Olori Naomi had split. Olori Naomi made the announcement via an Instagram post which said in key parts:

I made my journey into the ancient throne of Ife with faith in my heart and love for the keeper of it. I did my best to endure and make it work; many times, I smiled through the struggle. His Majesty has a picture he would love the world to see and perceive him as and another one which is his true self.

Today I announce the beginning of a new dawn and the close of a chapter. Today, I am a mother to God’s unique gift. I am no longer a slave to my thoughts of perfection. What I can confirm is that the Ooni and I are no more. I inhale love and exhale gratitude

Following Olori Naomi's announcement, Jenifa's Diary actor, Ogbolor took to his Instagram story and posted saying:

Be careful d things u say when in high spirits, those words may come back to hunt you. Which one is "my marriage was ordained by God." Then next thing, u divorce later. Did God change his mind? Or from the start, you simply used God’s name to make it look good?”

Olori Naomi's sister, Simi Oluwaseyi, saw the post and thought that Ogbolor was responding to her sister's situation. So, she wrote back at him saying:

@ogbolor you are very daft!… why not focus on your redundant career.”

Now, Ogbolor is speaking out about that incident, explaining why he posted the story and his thoughts on Simi's comment. Ogbolor said to Sunday Scoop:

My statement was not in any way directed to Prophetess Naomi. My friends were talking about the divorce rate in the country and abroad because a number of our friends had gone through the process too.

One of my friends told us his story too. He said the lady he was dating left him to follow someone else, claiming that he was not ordained by God for her. My friend had to let the relationship go. Afterwards, the lady went into another relationship and got married. The marriage did not last because she realised her husband was gay. That was what prompted the question, ‘If God ordained your marriage, why the divorce’? That was what triggered my post. It had nothing to do with the (estranged) wife of the Ooni of Ife.

I thank God I am making money and I have a job. My career is not in any way redundant. It is not something to brag about but I am grateful for where I am. I do not blame the sister of Prophetess Naomi for the way she reacted to my post. In fact, her reply was not as bad as what some other people sent me messages concerning that post. I have learnt to overlook unpleasant comments that are thrown at me. I just smiled away after I saw her reaction because I am not the kind of person that likes trouble.

Ogbolor

It is good to see Ogbolor choosing not to continue the drama. I think Simi's reply was too hasty and harsh especially when Ogbolor didn't even mention her sister's name in the post but I also see how she could have assumed it was about that.

Either way, let me know what you think about this. Let me know by leaving a comment on my Facebook post.
