No Good Deed Netflix Review
I binged this series in three nights.

How are we going to cover this up?
No Good Deed is a 2024 Netflix series about the Morgans putting their luxurious house up for sale. Three families fight to buy this house, believing it will solve their problems. As chaos ensues, complications and secrets intertwine making couples face their flaws.
I binged this series in three nights. No Good Deed is funny, suspenseful, and also has a meaningful lesson about forgiveness. The narrative intertwines engaging storylines, each grappling with its hidden truths.
This series has an all-star cast. I immediately put the series on my watch list as soon as I saw who was in it. These actors how been in a variety of media. Some have only been comedy-based, until showcasing dramatic talents. Series like No Good Deed is why actors need to test new grounds.
Ray Romano and Lisa Kudrow star as a failing married couple. Each known for their background in comedy, both actors deliver fantastic dramatic performances. Kudrow was moving in her emotional performance. The Gordons are mourning the loss of their son. Grief affects them differently, choosing to forget or keep their memory with them.
Linda Cardellini and Luke Wilson play the neighbors who live across the street from the Morgans. I have become a fan of both of these actors. They’re not so honest with each other, sneaking around in affairs and hiding secrets. They played well off each other.
The characters have different reasons why they want to purchase the house. Leslie and Sarah (Abbie Jacobson and Poppy Liu) want to start a new life together. Dennis and Carla (O-T Fagbenle and Tayonah Parris) are in a similar situation, except they want to get away from Dennis’s overbearing mother (Anna Marie Horsford).
More credits include Denis Leary, Matt Rogers, Katherine Moennig, and Chloe East. Did you ever think you’d see Romano and Denis Leary sharing the screen, especially after respectively voicing Manny and Diego in the Ice Age franchise?
No Good Deed was created by Liz Feldman who is known for her work on the Netflix series Dead to Me. The idea was created during the pandemic. Since the lockdown was at present, Feldman pondered the definition of ‘home.’ “Our homes became our everything during the pandemic,” Feldman explained.
While searching for story ideas, Feldman went on 50 house tours during the pandemic to find a new house. Each house is an integral part of the story in No Good Deed. The house becomes a character of its own. If only houses could talk because they would have a lot to say. So many secrets a hidden stories lie between the walls.
The series navigates themes of loss, deception, and truth. Each family has a difficult time telling the truth. Feldman’s writing ensures that each character is multi-dimensional, allowing viewers to empathize with their struggles. She also has a great talent for blending dark humor and poignant moments.
The writing is sharp between the characters. Through its characters, the show reflects on human connections and concealing pain. Feldman is up close and personal with all the characters. Each episode ends with a twist. It was so hard to shut it off each night.
My one complaint is that the series created too many subplots. Several twists happen in each episode that make it tough to follow along. You have to watch closely to see how the situation affects which character.
No Good Deed has garnered generally favorable reviews. If only I could watch this compelling series for the first time again. Watch it on Netflix.
