My Review of "Wednesday: Season One"
This one stuck on me by surprise. It's actually pretty darn good.

Wednesday is a mystery comedy TV series that's exclusive to Netflix. It came out in 2022 and is based on the Addams family franchise. I wasn't too sure what to make of it but I do remember loving the old Addams family TV show and movies. Seeing as it's a Netflix exclusive it's got to be about teenagers and murder though so maybe this would be a nice twist especially since I've been on my murder mystery comedy binge lately.
The show starts off with Wednesday's brother Pugsley getting bullied at their high school. Of course Wednesday has to enact revenge and she does so in the worst way possible. Getting into trouble at school is Wednesday's modus operandi. She's constantly getting kicked out of schools and this latest incident gets her expelled yet again.
This time Wednesday's parents think they have the perfect school for her. It's a private school that her parents used to go to. Although they are a pretty morbid and awkwardly weird family Wednesday is pretty different from the rest of her family. She's a lot more introverted than the rest. She's also a sociopathic autistic child. No matter where she ends up she knows she's not going to make friends.
Well Nevermore Academy is a very different from the rest of the schools out there. There are supernatural beings that go to this school. That means you'll see werewolves, sirens, psychics and all sorts of other kids there. It's here that Wednesday suddenly realizes she has psychic abilities. She had inherited it from her mother.
Wednesday comes in strong and ruffles a few feathers and pretty soon we get introduced to some of our supporting characters to the show. While this is happening there has been a stream of murders in the small town beside the school. It's rumored that someone from the Nevermore Academy is responsible for all of these murders. Quite understandable when you consider the enrolment.
The townsfolk have been trying to pin something to the school so that they can close it down for good and this might be it. In comes Wednesday to the rescue. She attempts to use her classmates to help her find the serial killer. Each time she does this she either gets closer to her colleagues or the whole incident makes her look crazy.
There is so much to like about this show. It's got so much personality and charm to it. The breakout characters are Wednesday and her roommate Enid. Each of the other characters do a great job in keeping us on our toes trying to figure out what is actually going on.
This show later evolves into a snowball of a story. There's layer after layer that they add to twist the story and yes it eventually all makes sense. It goes a little far into the supernatural to explain everything which can kind of be seen as a crutch but it's still fun.
It's all aimed at adolescents and the fun jokes and scenarios really give light to otherwise intense encounters. This show is not too dark and gruesome so that everyone can enjoy this romp. I think the whole family can watch and enjoy this one.
Overall, this is another murder mystery comedy that I have fallen for. This is an amazing streak that's going on lately and I hope it doesn't end. I had fun with this season from start to finish. I have to give this show an 8 out of 10. It's not too long of a season and I'm sure you can binge it in a weekend. I will definitely be suggesting this one to my friends and I hope they continue on with this series.
