My Review of "Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl"

If you're a fan of Wallace & Gromit this is a no brainer. You're going to love it.

Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl is the latest iteration of the popular franchise. It's been so long since these two have been on an adventure together but it's understandable. The company has other popular properties and stop motion animation takes a long time to get done. I was actually surprised to see this one because it's been so long.

This iteration starts off right after the events of a their classic Wallace & Gromit: The Wrong Trousers. They have just apprehended the wanted criminal, Feathers McGraw. As usual Wallace and Gromit are back to their daily lives.

Of course Wallace being Wallace, he invents another robot. This time it goes by the name of Norbot. He's a robotic gnome that will abide by their wishes. Norbot is actually pretty good. He's able to do all of Gromit's tasks quickly and easily. This again brings up Gromit's jealousy and unease. He's always got a sixth sense of things.

Gromit always knows what's up and Wallace is always the naive inventor. Feathers gets imprisoned in a local zoo. Security always underestimates him. Pretty soon he's able to utilize Norbot and create an army to create more chaos in this tiny little town. Even worse, he's able to turn the citizens against Wallace and Gromit while he's committing crime.

Now it's up to Wallace and Gromit, but mostly Gromit, to stop this evil villain. Will they be able to thwart this clever villain yet again? What about their innocence? That's what this movie is basically about. It's a family friendly movie so it's nice and simple.

Although this movie takes place right after that famous short video, you'll still understand what's going on. They make everything pretty obvious and you'll still be in on all of the jokes. However, if you did see the famous short video, you are in for extra laughs. They have a lot of references back to that famous short. Some of the running jokes are still going on throughout this movie.

The addition of Norbot was very on brand. There is a certain type of humor to the franchise and even the company. They were able to add this element of humor to Norbot. If you feel at home with this type of humor then you'll love this movie as well. For those of you that don't know this type of humor, I guess the best way to describe it is British dad jokes. They are very clean jokes but so ridiculous that they work. That is most of the humor is clean. I would say your mind can interpret things for Norbot when he is charging up. It's utterly hilarious but kind of adult humor.

Since it's a family friendly movie that's geared towards children you'll see a lot of sight gags. The dialogue can be funny but a lot of the jokes are situational. For instance Feathers McGraw happens to be a penguin. When he puts on a plastic glove over his head no one recognizes him as a penguin. They think he's a chicken. It's so utterly ridiculous but so funny when you see it in action. This movie is littered with this type of humor.

Overall, I had a fun time with this movie. I am biased as I'm a fan of the series. I thought this was especially fun because it was sort of a sequel to one of their most popular short videos. It pays homage to what made them popular in the first place. If you're in for some silly laughs and clean wholesome fun I would highly recommend this movie. That's why I give this movie a 7 out of 10.
