My Review of "Sex Education: Season 4"
My favorite TV series on Netflix is finally come to an end. Say it ain't so.

Sex Education: Season 4 has finally been released. It's been a long time coming as I've been waiting for this season for quite some time. When I heard it was going to be the last season, I had bittersweet emotions about it. Still, I know they have great writers and a great cast so they can't possibly botch it. Can they?
The season starts off the fall season after the last season. Our cast of do-gooders are now off to college. Unfortunately that means that some of the original cast have to say good-bye. It also means that we're saying hello to a few new cast members. When we get to the school it looks and feels a bit of the same but in a whole new universe. We're now living in more of a woke universe where people are more cognizant of each other's feelings and emotions. That usually isn't a bad thing.
One of the first hurdles is that they already have a student sex therapist on campus. This totally gets in the way of Otis' plans for his school year. Also we have more characters in the 2SLGBTQI+ community. This of course gets Eric very excited as he's been secluded for so long.
We still have characters like Maeve and Adam but they're off on their own now. Adam decided that he doesn't want to go to college and Maeve has gone to America to pursue her dreams of becoming a writer.
It seems as though everything is sunshine and lollipops but this is par for the course with this TV series. We start to see cracks in the glossy exterior and things start to fall apart. Oh how I loved how things were starting to fall apart. You can kind of see things a mile away in this season but it was still pretty satisfying.
I don't know how they could still pull of the innocent vibes in this show but all the characters still have an innocent naive charm to them. They are all obviously older and wiser but they still feel very vulnerable at the time. That's part of the charm in this show. This sense of naivety keeps me rooting for all of the characters in this show no matter what the situation.
Noteworthy moments are Eric's path to religion and Maeve's struggles throughout the show. I liked how they slipped in a few more adult situations that tackle deeper and more conflicting issues that are quite relatable.
What I didn't like about this season was the wrap up. It felt like the last episode kind of wrapped everything up in such a nice convenient package. To me it felt like this could have been prolonged for one more season but I understand that they wanted to end it the way that they ended it. The tone and the rushed feeling of the last episode was a little off putting. Even though the last episode had a runtime of close to an hour and half.
Overall, I still had a fun time with this show and it was really sad to say bye to all of these characters. I understand we can't have good things forever. If you've been following the show up until now you owe it to yourself to watch it. Then again you don't really need me to tell you to watch it. I thought this season wasn't as great as the other seasons but it still had the wonderful charm and wit. It was a nice sendoff and they did what they could with what they had. That's why I have to give this season a 7.5 out of 10. I hope they continue to make good series like this in the future.
