My Review of "Moon Knight: Season One"
With each Marvel TV series we a totally different method in story telling.

Moon Knight: Season One has just been completed. It's a Disney Plus exclusive and part of the MCU. You'd think that they'd be churning out cookie cutter episodes to reveal new characters but that's not the case with Moon Knight. They went into a different and welcome direction that I don't think anyone could foresee.
The season starts off very mysteriously. We are introduced to Steven a character that seems a bit neurotic but a bit of a genius as well. He's well versed in Egyptian history and culture but there's something off about him. He starts to have these hallucinations that blur the lines between dream and reality.
As the viewer we're also confused as to what is going on. This is a beautiful way to start off this season because this air of mystery keeps us captivated throughout the season. We are on the same journey as Steven while he tries to navigate the truth from fiction.
These dreams or hallucinations start to get more and more vivid and he starts to realize that maybe they're real. When he realizes that the dreams are real there's yet another realization. Steven is actually schizophrenic. He has an alter ego named Marc.
Steven goes in and out with Marc. Steven being the calm collected side of his personality and Marc is the kick butt and takes names part. Obviously the two personalities will conflict with one another because they're polar opposites from one another.
Throughout this season Marc and Steven have to figure out what mission they're on and why they're having to do it. With this they start diving deeper into Egyptian mythology which Steven is well versed in. All this while they're being attacked by relentless villains which is what Marc is good at.
To make matters even crazier they've been given special abilities granted to them by an Egyptian god. With these special abilities they're able to take down many of the enemies that come in their way. The problem is how do you get anything done when both of his personalities are constantly fighting with one another?
Like the other Disney Plus Marvel TV series they went into a totally different direction with this superhero. Moon Knight is a new hero and with this show he entered the scene with a bang. The wild wackiness of the whole premise of the show surprisingly works. It helped keep me on my toes as I had no idea what was going to happen next.
There are a lot of questions in this show that will thankfully be answered by the end of the season. I actually didn't think they'd respond to all of the questions that I had about the new split personality character. You have to be patient though. There will be a few viewers that will walk away from this show after a few episodes because of the chaotic confusion that it begins with. Trust me, you will be rewarded by the end.
As usual the special effects and art direction are well done. It sort of feels like it should have been two or three movies instead of six episodes. Then again I don't think we would have as much fun with this show if it was split into movies. I like the fact that this was separated into episodes so that we would have something to look forward to in the coming week.
Overall, it was a bit of a wonky start but that was to be expected. I had a great time with this show and I'm sure a lot of you will as well. Fans of the MCU will probably see this show no matter what but you don't have to be a fan to appreciate the story. That's why I have to give this season a 7 out of 10. I'm not sure about multiple viewings but the first time is a hell of a ride.
