Miss You Already - A Movie Review
'Miss You Already' is a beautiful film.

Friendship is an amazing gift. Don’t stop making memories.
Miss You Already was released to theaters in 2014. Jess and Milly have been best friends for the longest time. When Jess becomes pregnant, Milly is diagnosed with cancer. In a difficult time, the women battle against the cancer with silliness and wit.
Miss You Already is a film that I’ve been avoiding due to the relatable subject matter. Taking a chance, I am so glad that I watched it. This film details the most beautiful friendship I have ever seen. A poignant story, Miss You Already inspires viewers to reach out. No battle is ever faced alone.
Drew Barrymore and Toni Collette deliver the very best performances that I have ever seen. Since childhood, Jess and Milly are inseparable. The actresses became close friends after filming this movie which cemented their character's bond. Every single moment where they were laughing, dancing together, or sharing kind remarks made me smile.
Collette’s performance was aspiring. She boldly shaved her head for her role. Battling cancer is a difficult journey. My biggest takeaway from Miss You Already was the incredible way how the women found humor in any given circumstance. Barrymore and Collette did a spectacular job in a heated argument.
The people in any journey of your life matter. Dominic Cooper and Paddy Considine’s roles were studied well. As the husbands of Jess and Milly, they each have contrasting opinions or reactions to the situation. I had mixed feelings about Jago (Considine). He was selfish at times, insulting Jess about spending too much time with Milly.
I liked Miranda (Jacqueline Bisset). Not the most normal mother, she is still there for Milly when she needs her. The moment where she keeps a remnant of Milly’s hair was touching.
I like how reactions from Scarlett and Ben (Honor Kneafsey and Ryan Baker) were studied. Based on experience, cancer doesn’t affect one person. Despite the change, it’s best to continue with a normal routine. I teared up both times Milly had to tell her children difficult news.
Every character has a substantial part in Miss You Already. There’s no such thing as a small part. Whether doctors, co-workers, or family members, every actor had a hand in this film. The taxi driver was my favorite character. We have all known someone who has had cancer.
First, big applause goes to Catherine Hardwicke for her wonderful direction. Her attention to Miss You Already was close to the heart. Hardwicke documented how you should not let cancer affect your life. I loved the humor. The humor made this film what it was.
Watching this film brought back memories that I didn’t realize I had erased when my late aunt was fighting cancer. We laughed a lot. It’s not easy to watch how Milly is affected by her chemotherapy treatments, often vomiting and feeling weak.
I found Miss You Already therapeutic. It helps mend anyone who still feels sad. I also realized how much my aunt looked out for me during this time, being brave for both mine and her own sake. Don’t let the memories go.
Friendship is so important. Miss You Already is a lesson about friendship. I learned to appreciate my friendships all the more. If you haven’t told them already, reach out to your friends and tell them how much they mean to you.
Miss You Already is a Beautiful film. It will make you feel a tidal wave of emotions but it is so worth it. Add Miss You Already to your watch list.
