Harry Potter is the Best Character

I have been following the Harry Potter Fans fan page on Facebook for some time now. Someone posted what their favourite character was in the entire series there were a lot of Lunas, Hermiones, Dumbledores and Hagrids and many other characters mentioned however it seems that Harry Potter was not as well liked. I think it’s because he is the main character and everyone chooses some one else besides Harry. Here’s a list of reasons why I like him best.

1. Harry was humble: when he found out that he was this famous wizard that lived through the killing curse and made Voldemort disappear he did not change his personality and acted like the owned the school. He remained humble and knew he had a lot to catch up with in the wizarding world.

2. Harry was kind: he treated Dobby with equal respect and kindness as he does other wizards and people. He treated Luna and Neville like he did everyone else despite them being constantly bullied. He gave Dobby a proper funeral as best he could.

3. Harry stood up for his parents: when his aunt came to visit she spoke a lot of rudeness about his parents and Harry spoke up and blew her up not caring about the consequences. Which also speaks about his impulsive behaviour as well.

4. Harry was honest: every encounter he had with Voldemort was terrifying but somehow every time he got lucky and he admits it, he admitted that every time he’s had help. Then when professor Umbridge came to ruin everything he stood told everyone the truth despite some not believing him. He rarely lied to anyone.

5. Harry was selfless: He wanted to leave others out of the fight with Voldemort as he did not want anyone to get hurt of his behalf and thought it unfair that everyone in his life were risking their lives. To be fair that was much bigger than Harry realized because it was not just about him, it was about saving wizard kind.

6. Brave: Harry faced Voldemort on multiple occasions and he was not traumatized by any of it. He was willing to go seek horcruxes on his own and didn’t expect anyone to help.

7. Mature: every time Hermione and Ron got into a spat he would stay out of it as much as he could. He just avoided both of them until their issues resolved. When Rob didn’t believe him about the goblet of fire he still stood by the truth when it would’ve been easy to make something up.

8. Empathetic: he wanted to understand Neville and Luna when others talked behind their backs.

9. Harry didn’t judge others: Luna was bullied in her own house for being strange and Harry didn’t care he wanted to be the one to decide who to be friends with. He had the same start with his friendship with Ron. He determined on his own that Malfoy was a jerk and would rather be friends with Ron. He never judged Ron or his family for being poor.

10. Despite his bad childhood he still had a strong moral compass. He always stood up for what was right even when it was hard which is very rare to have that personality trait when you’ve grown up under the staircase and not knowing what you did to deserve that.

11. Distrust: he had a lot of trust issues which is probably why he stuck with his two best friends. He didn’t trust Snape until his final breath, but to the readers and Harry it made sense to not trust him.

12. Harry is an introvert he did not enjoy being centre of attention or being talked about even though the whole school did. It’s more of why the reason he stuck close with Ron and Hermione. He would wander on his own in the halls of Hogwarts at night because he didn’t mind being alone.

I believe that Harry’s character was created by JK Rowling to be a fan favourite hero. He was a little impulsive but he also had flaws and I thinks that’s why I find him to be a likeable character. What are your thoughts? Who is your favorite character?
