The MCU/X-Men Problem Everyone Is Talking About
Let’s be real here, we’re all hyped about the Marvel/Disney/Fox merger. It means that we have a lot more of the core characters to play with AND they finally have the X-Men and company™—but that doesn’t make everything sunshine and roses automatically. Fandom-Company relations are never so seamless.

Book Review: 'Trafficked'
The Sunday Times Bestseller, Trafficked, by Sophie Hayes, is a beautifully written biography. “The terrifying true story of a British girl forced into the sex trade.” Trusting a friend ended up being her most significant and scariest mistake. Torn away from her home, beaten and forced to sell herself for money, this biography grabs you right from the beginning. I found myself unable to stop reading and turning page after page. This is my review and why I would recommend you read it.

Review: Batman - Gotham By Gaslight
“What if?” stories have always been popular with the chance to re-imagine events or people in a different light. Comics, in particular, have made much use of the idea with DC dedicating an entire range to it known as Elseworlds which put its character such as Batman and Superman into new settings in the past or turned the characters fundamentally on their head. It's not surprising then that the most recent DC Universe animated movie would take the very first Elseworlds tale which takes the Dark Knight into steampunk territory as he takes on Jack The Ripper. It's safe to say that expectations were high for this particular animated movie but does it live up to them?

Can Our Entertainment Be Modified?
As a fellow westerner (North American a.k.a. Canadian) I can confirm that we are cursed with a short attention spans and get bored rather quickly. Which then kind of explains why our entertainment industry is filled with the shock value factor. It keeps us on edge, interested, and wanting more. We can known to be obsessed with shows like Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, and The Walking Dead which have all taken part in heated sex scenes, twisted and gruesome deaths, and heavy use of drugs. I will not sit here and say I am a saint, I’ve watched all and thoroughly enjoyed them…excluding The Walking Dead. I never saw the need to deprive myself of sleep since I’m not a big fan of zombies. The others I did enjoy, though, and it unfortunately comes down to the fact of how my attention was demanded and it was by pure and utter shock.

Oscars and the Films of 1990
Wow. In my last article of this series (films of 1989) I stated that I wonder if there would be a year when I would agree with the Academy's choices. How funny that the next year is the year when I totally agree. In 1990, there were a bunch of entertaining films, but it seems this year Hollywood really didn't care about winning Oscars as much as it did about entertaining viewers. Movies that I enjoyed this year that were not nominated for anything were Jacob's Ladder and Edward Scissorhands — horror and fantasy got gypped again, but that's forgivable because the Academy did nominate correctly this year and did choose the right winners in my opinion.
