Looking Back at Chan-wook Park’s 'Oldboy'
My favorite film of all time is Chan-wook Park’s Oldboy. The film defines the morality of vengeance as vile, leaving someone with nothing but despair and emptiness. Oh Dae-su (Min-sik Choi) is a man obsessed with vengeance like a psychedelic drug. He is imprisoned with nothing but food, clothing, and television for 15 years. “Laugh and the world laughs with you. Weep and you weep alone,” he says to himself. Suicide is an option, but vengeance is more important to him. Dae-su makes a list of the men and women he has caused harm to in the past realizing he himself is a sinner. He shadow-boxes rough walls until his hands are numb and knuckles bleed. His television is his source of time, entertainment, education, friendship, and religion. This is where Dae-su learns his wife has been murdered and he is the primary suspect. Escape and he is a wanted man. “Who could have done this to such a man?” I asked myself at this point of the film. These are my favorite moments of Oldboy.

TV Review: 'Atlanta' Robbin Season Episode 3
Van (Zazie Beets) is back, Earn (Donald Glover) learns that a $100 bill is more trouble than it’s worth, and Paper Boi (Bryan Tyree Henry) hangs with Clark County on an all new Atlanta, episode 3: Money Bag Shawty. Where was Van? This is not a question that the show is all that interested in answering. We know Earn spent the first two episodes of this season homeless despite the fact that Van was getting his mail, including a sizable check.

Heroes and Villains
Heroes and Villains When I was a kid, I had a bad combination. Little shrimpy body, oversized head for my ill-concealed genius, and a big mouth. And it was this big mouth and my bad temper that got me in trouble. And it got the shit kicked out of me on a semi-regular basis.

'Airplane!': A Lesson in Comedy
What makes a great comedy film? Loads of laughs, obviously. But how do writers, directors, and actors make us laugh? Airplane! (1980), probably the greatest comedy movie ever created, sets the gold standard for comedy (and especially parody) movies with an unbelievable range of comedic elements.

The Big Deal About Marvel's 'Black Panther'
Whether you are a fan of DC, Marvel, or neither, you likely know that 2018 is a big year for comic book movies, with a range of films from Deadpool 2, Avengers Infinity War, Black Panther, Venom, Aquaman and more. Of all these the most highly anticipated has been Marvel's Black Panther. The Black Panther (T'challa) made his debut in the Marvel cinematic universe in Captain America: Civil War, where he won the hearts of many and not long after, the Black Panther mania began.

How to Fall in Love with Reading (or at Least Hate It a Little Less)
1. Think about It as an Opportunity to Live a Hundred Lives I used to be an avid reader as a child. I still recall the anticipation I’d felt throughout the day when I didn’t have my book at hand. My family members would pass by me and probably think to themselves, “what a great kid — so studious, always reading.” The truth is, I had packed my bags and ran away from home with my mind. Captivated by the mystery, I had run off with Reynie and George joining the Mysterious Benedict Society where I needed my courage and wits to survive. I recall finding Cathy’s Book and desperately trying to discover her location and what events had transpired prior to her having gone missing (Additionally, she went missing in my hometown which led me to embark on a journey in visiting all of the places her shadow had once lingered). I remember joining Dauntless beside Beatrice in Divergent and discovering the corruption which had taken place within our government.

Obnoxious Characters Who Ruined Your Favorite TV Shows
If there's anything that television execs have taught us, it's that there's definitely too much of a good thing. Sometimes, it's in the form of a marathon that runs just a bit too long. This is forgivable and most people won't give the show the side-eye after this.

Top 5 Picks for Nightwing Movie
The last few DC films have not been good! That is the most common reviews I see about films such as Man of Steel, Batman vs Superman and Suicide Squad. Unlike most people I talk to, I actually enjoyed all of those films. I realise they have their flaws, but I think they are good stories with bad writing. However with the recent success of Wonder Woman scoring a 7.5 rating on IMDb and 92 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, compared to Batman vs Superman and Suicide Squad which scored in the low sixes on IMDb and 27 percent and 26 percent on Rotten Tomatoes respectively. I believe there is hope for the DCEU with some good writing and directing.
