Homelander Star Keeps Surprising Memento After The Boys Season 5 Filming Wrap
Antony Starr’s Farewell to Homelander

Filming for the fifth and final season of The Boys, a show that blends heroes and villains, has recently wrapped, and now, actor Antony Starr has shared a fun yet rather peculiar image that involves the idea of the show coming to a close. The Boys season 5 is expected to premiere sometime in 2026.
The Prime Video series is developed by Eric Kripke and is based on a comic of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. In The Boys, Starr portrays Homelander, a sociopathic "supe" who uses his powers for evil while tricking the public into idolizing him.
In addition to Starr, The Boys stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Erin Moriarty, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Colby Minifie, Jensen Ackles, and many more. Jared Padalecki, Misha Collins, and Seth Rogen will all guest-star in season 5.
Earlier this week, Starr uploaded two photos to Instagram, with one featuring his hair in a sealed plastic bag dated 8/20/25. In the second photo, Starr dons a significantly shorter hairstyle, insinuating he has cut the hairdo that Homelander was known for.
In a caption, Starr opened up about leaving The Boys behind since season 5 wrapped, and how cutting the hair was a big part of that. Check out Starr's comments below:
"I’m going to keep these safe and perhaps one day I’ll think of something fun to do with them. Perhaps too, I’ll be able to find the words to express the experience we had together. But I doubt it.
Also, Maybe they are a 'this' not a 'these.' There’s a lot of them after all. Anyways they are no longer on my head, where they spent the past seven years. Hard to believe this is it. They are leaving us.
#Homelandershair is officially wrapped. RIP John’s hair. You were epic. Thank you for not falling out. And being so real. You were the best hairs a guy could ask for. You will be missed, sweet mane of mine.
God only knows how I’ll move on from you, hair.
Goodbye old friend. Goodbye."
What This Means For Antony Starr And The Boys
Starr's Instagram post indicates that The Boys season 5 has just wrapped, marking the end of an era. This means that Starr will have more time to appear in different films and TV shows. Starr was recently in an action film titled G20, indicating that the actor may flock towards more films like this now that he has more time for new roles.
Tip: The Boys' first season initially premiered on Prime Video on July 26, 2019.
The Boys may be ending, but fans will be able to sleep peacefully knowing that there are currently multiple spin-offs of the bloody satire series. The second season of the first live-action The Boys spin-off, Gen V, is scheduled to premiere on Prime Video on September 17, 2025, and several other spin-offs, including The Boys: Mexico and Vought Rising, are currently in development.
Our Take On Starr's Instagram Post
While the photos could come across as strange, Starr's post regarding his hair and the end of The Boys is oddly emotional and heartwarming. These photos showcase how much working on the show meant to him and how much the character actually impacted him.
It is a positive thing for actors to be so moved by their work that they feel the need to remember the experience forever. Also, this kind of positive experience translates over to the screen as well, and could be a major reason as to why Starr's performance as Homelander in this exciting superhero parody is so great.
