Old school bodybuilding refers to the style of training and physique development that was popular in the early days of weightlifting and bodybuilding, primarily in the 1950s and 1960s. It emphasized basic, compound exercises such as squats, deadlifts, presses, and rows, and typically involved training each muscle group once per week with high volume and intensity. The goal was to build a symmetrical, aesthetically pleasing physique with emphasis on size and muscle definition. Some notable figures from the old school era of bodybuilding include Arnold Schwarzenegger, Frank Zane, and Reg Park. These bodybuilders were known for their well-defined physiques and classic, symmetrical look.

Old school bodybuilding methods have been largely superseded by more modern training techniques, but the principles of hard work, consistency, and proper form still remain relevant and important for anyone looking to build a strong and aesthetically pleasing physique. In terms of training split, many old school bodybuilders followed a "bro split" which is a split routine where each muscle group is trained once per week. This is in contrast to modern bodybuilding where often different muscle groups are trained in different days.

Another important aspect of old school bodybuilding was the use of progressive resistance. This means that the weight used during exercises is increased over time as the body adapts to the current weight. This principle is still widely used today and considered one of the key ways to continue to progress and build muscle.

Lastly, Old school bodybuilders also placed a strong emphasis on strict form and proper exercise technique. They also used a lot of isolation exercises, such as curls and leg extensions, to target specific muscle groups and create symmetry in their physique.

Bodybuilders like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Franco Colombo, Sergio Olivia, Serge Nubert, mainly focused on the proportion and symmetry of the muscle, unless being like a mass monsters they prioritize the aesthetic physique. Even today youngsters idolize the old school bodybuilders, the energy, the love they had for the sport was mind blowing.

''The Pumping Iron'' a movie which was made by Butler on Arnold Schwarzenegger was an fantastic movie which covers the 1975 Mr. olympia contest. in which the bodybuilders talks about there diet, workout routines. the final stage competition between Arnold and lou which will be remembered forever in the bodybuilding history. The movie talks about the mind games that has been used to overthrow the opponents. Back then Bodybuilding was a small community and seemed as an extreme sport. It was Arnold Schwarzenegger who took the Bodybuilding to the mainstream. the people could workout with bodybuilders, the Gold's gym which was called a "Mecca" for Bodybuilding. the gym where the Bodybuilders from every part of the world would come to train.

The Modern Bodybuilding has the Mass monsters which we see now in the open category of. As the time went on, To achieve the olympia title the bodybuilders used amount of steroids more then prescribed. which made their physique to develop a bubble gut, the critics started criticizing the issue which made the Olympia Association to bring a New division in the Sport. In the year 2016 Classic physique Division officially initiated, the bodybuilders like Chris Bum, Jeremy took the game in hand and focused on the aesthetic of the physique, unless like mass monsters. As the division gets popular, the bodybuilders from the open category participates in the classic division, which makes the people feel pleasant about their body.

As now we have headed towards the oldschool division, the Olympia Association planning to the make the classic physique the official Olympia for bodybuilding. By it's insane popularity, Bodybuilding is and always will be at the hearts of many.
