General Hospital rumor: Hayden Barnes is a big topic

Hayden Barnes (Rebecca Buddig) has got to be the most talked-about former General Hospital character since Tyler Christopher left his role of Nikolas Cassadine. For 2 and 1/2 years from early in 2018 until near the end of 2020, there were rumors and spoilers suggesting that Christopher would return or there would be a recast. Buddig has now made a public statement regarding her character that should satisfy fans at least for now.

Hayden being mentioned often reminds fans that Laura Collins (Genie Francis) and Ava Jerome (Maura West) along with other Port Charles residents spoke of Nikolas and kept his memory alive even though he was presumed to be dead. Two psychics even told Mayor Collins that her son was still alive and he was. On October 31, 2020, Marcus Columba was revealed to be the new recast Cassadine prince and Buddig fans are hoping that her character will also resurface alive and well.

Shawn Butler desires to find out the truth

Hayden disappeared in August of 2021 and spoilers as well as fans consistently speak of her return and with good reason. Barnes is mentioned often on General Hospital so viewers believe it might lead to Buddig coming back to the ABC soap. Shawn Butler (Sean Blakemore) figured out that Nikolas had a role in Hayden's disappearance and possibly the death of her mother Naomi Dryfus ( Gigi Bermingham).

Shawn blackmailed the prince and Nik thinks their business is now concluded. Shawn, however, told Alexis last week that the situation is far from over so GH fans believe he will keep digging until he uncovers the truth both about Hayden and Naomi. Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaunessy) has teased that he is responsible for Naomi's death and Hayden being MIA but no evidence links him to the women at this time. Buddig recently talked with Soap Opera Digest to set the record straight on the number one question that fans continue to ask her.

Buddig admitted that she has been “getting bombarded with” "Will she be returning to General Hospital"? “ Here is her answer. "Listen, I love [Executive Producer] Frank [Valentini], and Frank and I are friends, but I haven’t been asked back since I left the show [in 2019],” Fans are hoping that all the shout outs to Rebecca indicate that the powers that be are thinking about bringing her back. It has been more than 2/12 years just like with Nikolas Cassadine so some GH viewers are believing that history will repeat itself only this time without a recast.

Some GH viewers are wondering if Hayden, like her mother is deceased? No one can believe that Hayden is deceased? No one believes she would willingly stay away from her daughter Violet Finn (Jophielle Love) for such a long time. When asked if he did away with Naomi and Hayden, Victor told Nikolas not to ask questions he was not ready to hear the answers to. Victor never admitted to killing Naomi but the storyline implies that he did.

There are those who watch General Hospital who believe Hayden is being held in the same facility where Holly Sutton (Emma Sams) is being kept a prisoner. The same is being suggested for Jason Morgan (Steve Burton but this is all speculation. The powers that be have not revealed details regarding either of the three characters but fans desire closure where the the trio is concerned. At least now those who enjoy GH know that Buddig is open to a return if only she is asked.
