The rumors are running rampant, but are they true?

Will Spencer return to General Hospital?

Spencer Cassadine is trending because the above image is making its way around social media. The implication is that Nicolas Bechtel or a new actor will return to General Hospital. Nicholas Chavez was last in the role, and many fans believe he has made it his own.

There are no credible news outlets or spoilers reporting that the character will return, so this is probably clickbait for views. Bechtel originated the role of Spencer in 2013 when he was seven years old, and GH viewers fell in love with him. His last film credit was American Horror Story in 2021. There is no indication that he is still acting.

Fans who have commented on the image are overwhelmingly saying they prefer Chaves as a more grown-up Spencer, but he has taken his career on a different path. There is a six-year age difference between the actors. Bechtel was born in 2005, and Chavez in 1999.

Spencer was SORAS

General Hospital chose to recast Bechtel with Chavez to age the character. In daytime, this is known as Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome (SORAS). This was Chavzez's first professional acting job. At first, GH fams did not warm up to the new Spencer, but in time, he grew on them.

Viewers became engaged in the relationship between Spencer and Trinia Robinson (Tabyana Ali) and wanted to see where things went. The duo was even being called a super couple. Trina is now dating Kai Taylor ( Jens Austin Astrip), but viewers have not warmed up to the duo as a couple.

Sprina was beloved, and Chaves and Ali were on the cover of PEOPLE Magazine. Chaves left the soap to appear in Monster: The Eric and Lyle Manendez Story on Netflix. He was supposed to return within a few months after filming was over, but it was announced that he would not reprise the role.

Will Spencer ever return to Port Charles?

General Hospital viewers were divided on Nicolas Chavez's Netflix performance. Some said he did a great job, while others did not like the violence and nudity.

The actor next appeared in another Netflix production, Grotesquerie. It seemed he might be destined for stardom. Earlier thsi year was in a theatre role, Camino Real at the Williamstown Film Festival.

There is no information on what comes next for Chaves, but he did say "never say never" regarding a return to General Hospital. It was left to fan interpretation that Spencer might still be alive. It's possible that if he does not get other roles, he might choose to portray Spencer again if the powers that be rehire him.

Some General Hospital fans were disappointed when last October Chaves donned a toga and placed a bloody crown of thorns on his head. It was believed that he was mocking the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

Does Spencer have a future on General Hospital?

Time will tell whether Spencer Cassadine will be recast and with whom. In the meantime, soap fans are advised to verify Facebook rumors with reputable news outlets and spoilers before sharing false information.

Some General Hospital viewers have unfairly compared Bechtel to the man who replaced him by stating they only want Chavez to return as Spencer. Others say they want the character to return and reclaim Wyndemere from Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) because the property should remain in the Cassadine family.

Continue watching for reliable updates, breaking news, and spoilers related to Nicolas Bechtel, Nicholas Chavez, General Hospital, and life in Port Charles. One thing loyal soap viewers know is that the future is unpredictable and the dead do return to life.
